OBX Cruisers Posted February 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2006 We can't tell you about ship tours, but we visited Mont St. Michel twice while we were stationed in the Netherlands with the U.S. Air Force. The first was in April when there were no crowds - and it was an awesome experience. We had the Abbey and gardens at the top almost to ourselves. The views were spectacular! The second time, unfortunately, was in August, when we could hardly walk up the Mont because of the crowds. It definitely was not as enjoyable. By the way, we also toured St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall last fall and would highly recommend this too if you are in that area of England. Same concept - but St. Michael's Mount in Cornwall is not quite as old and a family has actually lived there for generations.
jfb128 Posted February 14, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2006 We signed up with mini bus tours to do Mont St. Michel last September while aboard Regatta. Unfortunately the ship was not able to tender due to very rough seas. We had the Concierge aboard Regatta call the tour company and they only kept a small deposit and did not charge us for the full amount of the tour. I realize this does not tell you anything about the quality of the tour itself but it does show you the character of the management of the company as they could have arguably charged us the entire amount of the tour.
