Salty Dawg Posted May 3, 2004 #26 Share Posted May 3, 2004 You're not gaining weight... you're getting a return, plus interest, for the investment in taking a cruise. Everyone knows that salt air causes your clothes to shrink!
Live2Cruz Posted May 3, 2004 #27 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Just back from my 4/24 Glory cruise. Weighed in today. Officially I gained 4 pounds. That includes 2 days pre-cruise, 7 days cruise, and one day back eating like crazy. I am hoping 4 will be the total, but it really hasn't all had time to settle yet. I lost 7 before I went so I am still down, but would like to take off a couple of what I picked back up.
tef43 Posted May 3, 2004 #28 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Dieting before a cruise is not necessarily a good idea. Your stomach shrinks and you will feel terribly uncomfortable after indulging in the gastronomical delights aboard ship. Best to start overeating before you leave, so that your stomach s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-s and you have room for all the good stuff. Food, glorious food! Gluttony, my *second* favorite deadly sin. ralmyers Posted May 3, 2004 Author #29 Share Posted May 3, 2004 tef -I am with ya! You have to die of something, it may as well be the love of overindulging in food :-) It is not fun to watch what you eat your whole life and die anyhow- LOL! as far as liv to jump goes, yeah I hear ya bragging. I am jealous. The days of eating whatever I want and not gaining an ounce are over. I can look at something and gain 3 pounds! halos Posted May 3, 2004 #30 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I have dieted all my life and one day because I became so scale obsessed (weighing in every day upon waking, after every meal, and then after each time I peed, for God's sake) that I decided the scale must go. So...since I don't know the actual 'poundage', I just go by how my clothes fit. If I can still zip my jeans (THE ONES I LEFT AT HOME BECAUSE I DON'T BRING JEANS ON A CRUISE) after I get home, then I don't fret too much. Catrin Posted May 3, 2004 #32 Share Posted May 3, 2004 You are all scaring me! I am 71 lbs lighter than last years cruise.. so if I gain 5lbs or so, It will be fine! I will just have to go right back on my program. The one thing this year, though.. is that I am still going to be very careful with what I eat. Sure I am going to try a few deserts etc. But for drinks I will just have water... and no rolls with dinner! Cathy Ecstacy October 1992 Destiny October 1999 TRIUMPH May2003 Our TRIUMPHant Return! teedee Posted May 3, 2004 #33 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I usually gain about 5 pounds. I have bad knees and can't do stairs, unfortunately there's nothing wrong with my taste buds and I eat like there's no tomorrow on a cruise. I do try to do a lot of walking on the decks, but when you're walking from buffet to restaurant to grills it really doesn't do much good! yst347 Posted May 3, 2004 #39 Share Posted May 3, 2004 I walk 3 miles on the track every morning. I still gain 4 to 8 pounds on a cruise but I usually drop 4 to 6 pounds in the first week back.
