"The U.S. Senate passed a bill Thursday that would temporarily exempt cruise ships traveling between Washington State and Alaska from stopping in nearby foreign ports, like Canada. The hope is to recover a semblance of a cruise ship season for Alaska’s tourism economy this summer."

AKStafford, THANK you for your post, I appreciate it VERY much.  I know we are not out of the woods yet --- will keep our fingers crossed that our August 21st cruise and those of others that are waiting so patiently will sail.

The passage of this Bill reinforces my belief that bipartisanship is not "dead and buried".  

 

Senator Murkowski deserves recognition for her leadership in getting this Bill through the Senate.  Senator Sullivan also deserves recognition for his co-sponsorship of the Bill.  They are serving their State well.

Carnival has already reassigned the Miracle to Seattle to take up the rest of the Alaska season.  They have also already reassigned all cabins for my September 14 cruise.  My fingers are crossed!
