Picture-A-Week 2021 - Week 22

 Share

Recommended Posts

Pictures taken between Monday, May 24 and Sunday, May 30.

Week 26 is fast approaching and that means half the year is gone already! Get out there and take more pictures!

Rules: See above

That's it. This isn't a contest.

All photos taken this week are welcome (not just cruising).

Prizes will not be awarded. Discovering the joy of photography is the prize.

The idea is to get folks out using their cameras for more than vacations and toddler birthdays.

Post one. Post many. Up to you.

Have fun with your camera and share your fun with others!

Out in our local marsh trying to find some wild life that will set still long enough for a picture, got a couple of Red Wing Black Birds & a couple of Trumpeter Swans.

In preparation for Memorial Day, we ordered a new flag for the front yard pole. Last September, we changed brands and ordered a non-nylon, made In America flag that we were hoping would last more than two months in our strong afternoon breezes. After seven months, a corner was starting to fray and the blue was shifting to purple. It was time to retire it and what better time than on the eve of a day where the flag does double duty and not only reminds us that we live in the greatest country on earth, but helps us remember all those who gave their lives to make it so? Pictured here is the slightly faded veteran of California sun and wind that has earned retirement and will be properly disposed of in accordance with 4 USC 8: Respect for flag. God Bless America!

Saturday's wetlands visits, starting in Wellington, FL at a park I hadn't been to in a few months, and then to my 'local' wetlands for more updates of the baby birds:

Wood duck momma guiding her ducklings through the duckweed:

Basilisk lizard on a tree:

Black-necked stilt chick wandering out to learn to feed on its own - just 5 days old:

Pied-billed grebe chick wondering where mom went (she dove under for food - they can stay under for 10-15 seconds at a time):

Male northern cardinal singing on the handrail:

Black-necked stilt parent, flying around in the airspace over its 4 chicks to chase off any bird that tries to enter the zone:
