Slot Machines on Celebrity: RNG or Central AI control?

I try to follow slot machine technology and as I understand it RNG ( random number generator chips ) that determine payout percentages in each physical machine are being replaced by variable results AI which can be dynamically controlled in the “back room”. In other words casino management has a terminal that can instantly reprogram the machines. For example very liberal on date/time or conversely very tight on date/time. Land based casinos are migrating to the AI model. Is there anybody on this Board that has any special knowledge. I can ask on my June 5th cruise but I usually just get a smile in response. Thanks
