Good Monday morning.  Thanks for the Daily Report.

Hurray for Chocolate Ice Cream Day!  I don't like June bugs.  Good luck to all involved with technology.

Interesting quote.

Another port I have not been to, but would love to visit.  Hope there are lots of pictures.

I heard Harry and Meghan had a little girl - congrats to them.

Saying prayers for us all.

Stay safe.

Good morning, everyone!

We have hot and muggy on tap for today in northeast Ohio.   I may break down and turn on the AC.  So far I've been good with the heat, but humidity and I don't get along.

Today is a busy one.   I have the pool this am, then a doctor's appointment around noon, and my "environmental services" people are coming out late afternoon.  They make sure the spiders and ants stay out of the house.  I want them to find the yellow jacket/wasps that plague me on the front porch.

Chocolate ice cream is a big hooray!   The June bugs need to stay outside with the ants and spiders.  I'll let others develop the new technology before I try it.

Today's meal is a nice salad.   I'm including a piece on farro.   I had to look it up.  If you get the whole grain variety, it does require an over night soaking like dried beans do.  I would skip this because of the carb/starch levels, but others might enjoy it.

Thank you for the Monday Report, Rich.  I think I'll pass on most of the days today, technology is great but with the proliferation of ransom attacks is becoming a pain as well.  Chocolate is not my favorite ice cream, and I hope June Bugs have some sort of purpose but it escapes me.  I love the Lang quote.  I don't think I've been to St. Anthony but if I was it was on a land trip.  I was at one time booked there on the Zuiderdam last year.  I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Canaletto Salad, Sauteed Veal Picatta, and Pistachio Gelato as enjoyed on MS Prinsendam June 7, 2015.  Anxiously waiting for a report from Carol.

Good morning everyone, thanks for today’s daily report.  Chocolate ice cream, yum.  All the ducks will be happy with June Bug Day.  I used to enjoy watching the ducks chase after them when I was a night auditor years ago.  Not sure what trial technology day is, maybe a lot of happy five year olds?  The salad sounds nice but not today.  Haven’t been to today’s port but can’t wait to see photos.  Prayers to all those who are on today’s prayer list.  A toast to those with celebrations.

Good morning.  Love love chocolate ice cream.  We don't have June bugs, thankfully, and I'm not sure what trial technology is.  Like the quote.  Will pass on the meal.  Looking forward to the photo's of today's port.

Major prayers and virtual hugs to our care list and toasts for our shout out list.  Everyone who is in the extreme heat please keep hydrated.

Stay safe, social distance, and please continue to wear your masks.

Good  morning everyone. Thanks  for  the  Daily, our  lists, recipes  ports  and  quotes. Like  Roy,  I will  pass  on  the  June bugs, chocolate  ice  cream  and  leave  the  technology  to  the  5 year  olds.

If  today's  recipe  showed  up  on  our  table by  usually  sweet  DH would  be  unhappy.I  might  like  it but will  have  something  else  for  dinner  tonight.

@mamaofami, I  hope  all  went  well  with  the  surgery. I  agree  with  you  about  hospitals  on  the  East coast. I  am  grateful  for  the  skilled  physicians  that  are  just  minutes  away. I  hope  you  were  able  to  get  some  rest  yourself.

We  have  continued  heat  and  humidity  on  tap  today  but  thunderstorms  might  come  later this  afternoon. It  feels  like  a  wall  when  one  steps  out  the  door  and  I scurry  back  into  the  AC.

We  have  been  to  Newfoundland  but  not  this  port.

Thanks for the Daily, Rich and our morning smile & thanks to all the contributors of lists, food & wine 🙂

What a strange collection of days!  How and why did June bugs even get a day?  They can destroy lawns and vegetation and the bane of our existence here in New Brunswick. 😡

I’m not a big chocolate ice cream fan but many of my friends love chocolate.  So I’ll celebrate chocolate with all the chocaholics 🙂

Love the Lang quote but I think I will pass on the Farro.  A Mimosa would go down great this morning working outside 😉

@mamaofamiI hope Sam had a successful surgery 🙏🏻

Sadly, we haven’t gotten to Newfoundand yet.  We had a trip planned until covid hit.  I’m really looking forward to going.  I have some Newfoundlander friends and they are the greatest Maritimers - tremendous sense of humour, kind, thoughtful and tough all at the same time.

Garden Club Participants: :  A word on yesterday’s Daily inspired me on this one.   My go to insecticide and fungal fighter is Neem Oil.

We got an infestation of the dreaded lily beetle that can decimate lilies in days.  They are moving across North America now sadly and a devil to fight.

While I got it originally to fight those dreaded beetles, it can also kill whitefly, aphids, Japanese beetles, moths larvae, scale & spider mites.  And as long as it has the hydrophobic extract it can also be used as a fungicide against rust, black spot, mildew, leaf spot, scab, blight, etc.

Best of all it’s environmentally friendly and will NOT hurt beneficial insects like bees and lady bugs.

Generally, it is mixed at the rate of 2 TBSP or 1 ounce to one gallon of water.  Cover the stems, leaves and underside of leaves and re-apply every 7 - 14 days (definitely every 7 if you are fighting an existing problem)

Not all garden centres carry it and it can be diluted and pricey for what you get.  Make sure wherever you buy it that it is pure Neem oil.  It’s usually available on on line sites like Amazon.

thinking about travelling again:

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a great Monday everyone.  Stay safe & don’t forget your 😷

Thank you for today’s Daily, Rich! June Bug Day is dangerously close to Murder Hornet Day, so watch yourself there. I will gladly trade all my chocolate ice cream for someone’s sea salt caramel ice cream. Love chocolate, but not in ice cream 🤔 I salute those who invent and test technology- look how far we have come in our lifetimes!

Thank you for our lists Roy! Cheers to our recipes & gardening tips gurus! Morning Dailyite family. Hoping to hear from Carol soon! Praying that all is well with Sam, and she was able to get at least a little rest last night.

Quite the marine layer this morning. Just starting to burn off. I would add some cubed roasted Turkey breast to today’s meal, and might even substitute Freekah for the Farro. It is another whole grain healthy carb with an almost nutty flavor.  An early gym visit, laundry and who knows what else is in store for me today. I played a lot of water volleyball yesterday and my left shoulder muscle is reminding me that I am NO longer 25. 😱

Prayers for all who need our support - no matter whether or not they are on the Care list. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

*********

North Americans might have a hunt on their hands for this “zippy” South African Chardonnay. I found a rating for the 2016 vintage, and one International distributor offering it for $46.99. Many more International distributors for later vintages. Shipping might be prohibitive.

Winemaker Notes

Inviting flint and mineral aromas with fresh lemon blossom and grapefruit nuances. A delicate composition of lemongrass and subtle, lightly roasted macadamia nut. Polished pallet with a smooth textured mouthfeel.

Recommended with seared scallops on a bed of lemon and herb risotto.Certified Sustainable

JS92 James Suckling: This is very much focused on stone fruit with apple pastries, jasmine and honeysuckle. The palate's very linear and taut with zippy acidity. A textured finish.

Morning all.  It's beginning to rain now here in central Georgia.  Shouldn't be an all day thing, just off and on.  I do like chocolate ice cream a lot and wish I had some in the house.  I would eat that for dinner instead of the menu suggestion.  I don't know what trial technology means so will skip over that celebration.  As for June bugs, they were thick as thieves in Missouri when I grew up.  You couldn't leave the porch light on at night or they would swarm to your front door.  While in my teens, my date would escort me to the front door and we would both be grateful the porch light was off and the June bugs somewhere else.  😁Lol!

Prayers to all on our care list especially @mamaofamiand her DH.  I hope he is doing well this morning and that the surgery last night was successful.  Cheers to all on the celebrations list.  We could all use a little more happy news in our lives!

As for port of the day, St. Anthony is a port in Newfoundland I have never been to.  I've only been to Corner Brook on Seabourn in 2018, and we missed the port of St. John's on Caribbean Princess in 2015 due to a storm.  I hope we get to see some photos today of St. Anthony.  I'm sure I would enjoy visiting there someday.

Good Morning Everyone from a warm but overcast day at the beach

Love ice cream in all flavors. It is my downfall. Dont have June Bugs but we do have " love bugs"!

I would prefer Roys dinner selection  but not today. Never been to todays port, looking forward to the pictures.

     Extra prayers for @mamaofamiand DH.

It is warmer in New England than it is here. My Boston relatives are all complaining about the heat!  I

Good morning all!

I missed most of the Daily yesterday. Saw it was 7 pages and had to catch up this morning.@mamaofamiso sorry to hear the news about your husband; prayers for healing and strength for both of you.

Saturday was so exciting-my first time back in the theatre in over a year. There were a lot of Covid precautions in place, including social distancing of seating as well as requiring the audience to wear masks. I got to try my new travel wheelchair (my youngest DD is a fast pusher 😳). The theatre was a little disappointing as a handicapped accessible venue. It’s brand new so you would think...  The box office gave me seats in a handicapped row (seats are removable if you want/need to stay in your wheelchair) in the orchestra level, except to reach the seats from the theatre lobby requires going down steps?? They have provided one of those industrial style lifts to move the handicapped between levels. There were two of us waiting to use it after the show, can’t imagine what will happen if the theatre is full and there are multiple handicapped people waiting. It only holds a chair and a standing person, and doesn’t work if the door isn’t shut properly on both levels. The play itself was stunning although I might have preferred something a little lighter in this time. Mlima’s Tale is the story of the death of an African elephant and how his spirit moves among the people who illegally take his ivory tusks and what eventually becomes of them. It was probably fitting for World Environment Day. The set was beautiful, so was the costuming. The small cast was excellent. We celebrated afterwards with dinner at a favorite Mexican restaurant.

I probably overdid it a little on Saturday; my tailbone was quite unhappy yesterday. I have agreed to have it X-rayed at the suggestion of my nurse practitioner;  will piggyback it with my hospital visit on Wednesday for my drug follow up.

Hate the sound of June bugs hitting the door, prefer not to celebrate their day. Ice cream is always good, but must admit chocolate is not my favorite (prefer vanilla bean or butter pecan). Not sure what is included in trial technology, but I would say DNA testing must rank up there?

Mimosas are the symbol of good times to me. I’d give the salad a try (DH would turn up his nose) and a little Chardonnay with it would be perfect.

Haven’t been to Newfoundland, looking forward to pictures.

Offering prayers to all on our care list (you may take me off, my problems are mostly long term although prayers are always appreciated) and may there be healing for all concerned 🙏.  And for all the celebrations I offer a toast (on Saturday it was with a frozen Margarita 😉)

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!   I love chocolate ice cream, but never buy it for home because I'd be the only one eating it; DH prefers plain old vanilla.  But, when we go out for ice cream, all bets are off, and I get whatever I like . . . most often Rocky Road, but I would certainly like to try Sea Salt Caramel - I'll bet it's scrumptious!

Thankfully we aren't plagued by June bugs - we have enough other flying insects to concern ourselves with.   Our mosquitos are just getting started, and we've had a 24 hour rain, so that means there will be another batch of them developing.  Time to break out the citronella candles in the evenings now, but that's what summer is all about on the "frozen tundra".  I'm not exactly sure what trial technology is, but if it means we can all communicate with one another around the world a little easier, I'm all for it!

I checked the FLL webcam and saw this BHB - it felt good seeing her again.

1244782881_NieuwStatendam.thumb.jpg.33f0f973a6487301a707ec0603614fc4.jpg

I like today's menu suggestion, a great one for a warm summer's day, but we don't have any Farro around.  It could easily be made with one's favourite grain (rice, quinoa, couscous, etc)., but I would add chunks of either ham or chicken to make it a meal.    I've got a container of chopped cooked chicken breasts that I could turn put together with rice and veggies for tonight's dinner, so I'm pretty sure that's what will be on our table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  I'm also anxious to hear an update on @mamaofami's DH.  Raising our glasses to toast all on the happy list.  Be safe, stay well, wash your hands and wear your masks!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂
