Costa Line

My parents were on the Costa Europa years ago. She was originally the Home Lines Homeric, HAL Westerdam, then Costa Europa, then Thompson Dream, then Marella Dream, now she's just called Ella (possibly to be scrapped due to her age). What interesting souvenirs do you have from your Costa cruises? I have a few interesting ones, including a postcard with the fleet on it. This postcard is interesting because 9 of the ships on this postcard are gone now (4 Scrapped, 1 Sank, 4 Sold). These are some of my Costa Souvenirs I've collected over the years, ashtrays, brochures, models, postcards, drinking glass

I have the same brochure from Costa Riviera as you.

When visitors before sailing were allowed, I have visited Federico C and Italia.  May have some brochures from those two ships.  No other artifacts, however.

My visit to Italia did not make me want to consider her for a cruise.  Federico C, however, was a ship on which I would have enjoyed sailing, I think.

I take it the Italia didn't look good? or what kept you from wanting to cruise on her? I only have a couple of items from the Federico C, I have a couple of record albums for her with really nice covers, which open up to fully show the ship which is nice.

I can't recall anything specific.  That's been so long ago.  It may have been a time when I was vacationing in Fort Lauderdale and ship visitations were readily available and I was visiting several.

There were some of those ship visitations that made me feel:  I HAVE to try to do this.  Norwegian America Line's Vistafjord in Port Everglades and Swedish American Lines Kungsholm in New York has she was about to sail on a North Cape Cruise are stand out memories for me.  As well, as when I visited Queen Mary in New York on sailing day when I was a teenager.

Italia was not in that bracket.

We sailed on Federico C when she was SeaBreeze, for Premier Cruise Lines.  Lovely ship!

We always made it our mission to find traces of their former names when we sailed on the Premier ships.  We did find a wrought iron "C" on an outdoor gate.

Sometimes we found an original name on the hull, hiding beneath the current name.
