At 6:20 pm EST Reuters reports that two people sharing the same cabin have tested positive, are asymptomatic and are in isolation.

Would you  mind sharing a link as I cannot find anything on Reuters site? TIA

My neighbor is a nurse.   Last year  year in Jan she along with many others got very sick.  They didn’t know what it was.  They found out later it was the Covid virus.   She was one of the first to get a vaccine becasue she worked in a hospital.  2 months ago her husband and children all came down with the virus.  The kids weren’t as bad as the dad. She also tested positive.  She said she had a few symptoms but nothing really bad.

sorry for  the bold.  I didn’t know it was on and don’t want to retype it

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

Bound to happen sooner or later.

true but according to the article this ship had been sailing a week. So this was its first sailing??? Not later for sure. Anyone know if this was a vaccinated sailing or a pre-test sailing?

This was the first cruise out of Sint Maarten and it required all passengers to be vaccinated.

So how did they get tested?  If you are vaccinated there shouldn’t be a need to test.  Was this the test that they perform in order to get off the ship?

Yes, it was the end of cruise test.

One issue here is too much testing. There’s no need to test vaccinated people who aren’t showing any symptoms.

Also St Maarten I believe just said they want those disembarking to have a test within 48 hours.

Saint Maarten required testing b4 coming to the island before the cruise as well as upon return

This just isn't good but let's see how they handle the situation.

I look at this as an excellent opportunity to give their Covid protocols a good shakedown.  Their port agreement with St. Marten, their isolation arrangements, and their quarantine arrangements before returning home will all be put to the test here.  Added bonus is that no one is truly ill.

I'm sharing RCI press release.  I also received an email from Celebrity requiring the use of masks on board indoor and outdoors except while eating, drinking or in your stateroom.  This is for the Apex first sailing from Athens next week.

Don’t know if that is true- can have no symptoms and still expose someone else.  Also US requires test to come back so had to test.

Well apparently there is a need to test, since 2 people so far are positive. Do you need to be reminded that you can still get COVID, and spread it, even though you've been vaccinated?

You sound like the former dear leader who complained that  the pandemic nuumbers wouldn't be so bad if people just didn't get tested.

The likelihood of an asymptomatic vaccinated person spreading covid to another vaccinated person is so low as to not even be worth thinking about.

How could it happen if they were vaccinated and before arriving at St Marteen they had a negative PCR test?

It happens, break through cases are uncommon but not rare. They tend to have no symptoms so we don’t hear about them often because the person doesn’t know they would need to be tested.
