cruising in Posted June 14, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2021 We are a family of 10, 6 adults, 4 children flying into Fort Lauderdale to catch a cruise April 2022. Does any one know of any transportation companies that have a van service to take us all together? Is this the best way to travel to the cruise port if you fly into Fort Lauderdale? lostinparadise999 Posted June 14, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2021 It's a very short ride from Ft Lauderdale airport to cruise ship terminal. Taxis are pretty reasonable and they have vans. Probably need two taxi for passengers and luggage. Cost is about $15 per trip not person.

Your estimates are based on cruising out of Fort Lauderdale. OP: we have had good success using QLS Transportation. The only problem is that I can't find their website now. Whether they are closed down due to the pandemic and will reopen as cruising returns, or whether they have closed permanently, I really don't know. You could give them a try at info@qualitylimoservice.com or 1 888 757-0021. They can handle 10 passengers and luggage with no problem. If you are flying in the day before your cruise, many of the hotels have shuttles running to the Port of Miami in the morning. Check with your hotel. Some have package deals, but in many cases they charge per person, so booking with a company like QLS might be cheaper in the long run. Trip Advisor has a listing that you might want to review: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attractions-g34227-Activities-c59-t182-Fort_Lauderdale_Broward_County_Florida.html

Since this question isn't specifically about Canadian cruisers, you might want to ask it in the Florida departures forum https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/386-florida-departures/ to get more complete information. Magicat Posted June 14, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2021 Highly recommend South Florida Shuttles. We've used them many times, large comfortable vans. Always on time and never had an issue with them.
trtog7 Posted June 16, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2021 Why not flying into Miami Airport?

Not sure for the OP's particular situation, but we mix and match FLL and MIA or even West Palm Beach based on price, flight times or whether a flight is direct.
cruising in Posted June 18, 2021 Author #8 Share Posted June 18, 2021 Thanks for your help. We are flying to Fort Lauderdale as the Miami are not as good out of Calgary.
Musigurl Posted June 24, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 24, 2021 I've done that route many times -- usually costs $70-75 by cab or van.
mexico8 Posted July 14, 2021 #10 Share Posted July 14, 2021 We have a cruise on November 21st from Fort Lauderdale. In the past we got a direct flight (non-stop) from Ottawa to Miami but so far we don't find any direct flight to either Fort Lauderdale or Miami from Ottawa. We will have to make a change in Montreal or Toronto. Anyone know if and when direct flights might be offered for November 2021?

For the last few years, we've found that YOW-FLL direct flights hard to come by, particularly in non-peak months. For example, I had no trouble finding non-stop flights for January on a quick search, but nothing for your dates in November. This may improve as the airlines start ramping up again, but you may need to consider the one-stop option. Depending on your airline's change/cancellation policies and your class of ticket, it might be worthwhile booking now and then switching should a direct flight become available. mexico8 Posted July 14, 2021 #12 Share Posted July 14, 2021 We will probably have to do that and hope the direct flight turns up and we can change to that one. Thanks for your reply.

You may have to fly in two days in advance but for me it's worth it getting a direct flight. (I got direct flights from Ottawa to Tampa by alternating my dates).
