time4u2go Posted February 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2006 With all the current unrest in Haiti, does anybody think RCCL will stop going to Labadee?
Cape Cruiser 2007 Posted February 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Thye are going to Nassau for now. Im sure over time it will die-down.
AlDubya Posted February 15, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Hmm... I hope the unrest continues so that when we cruise in September we go to Nassau rather than Labadee. I just wasn't too keen on Labadee. I'd much rather do Nassau.
lovemycat Posted February 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2006 I'm probaly one of the few people that likes Labadee better then Nassau. I'm going in a few weeks so I'd like to know if this will change before I go.
Yooper38 Posted February 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Our cruise isn't until April 1st and I would assume things would be back to normal by then but just in case they are not where would they send us instead? We are on the eastern carib itinerary and already have a stop in Nassau.
kmbierworth Posted February 15, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Where did you hear they are subbing Nassau for Labadee?
beachlady58 Posted February 15, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2006 I am confused about Labadee and I am on the Radiance next week with a scheduled stop there. After reading the threads I called RCCL and they said that there were no changes yet, and the Captain would make the decision...Help!?
hdawson Posted February 15, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Nassau with seven other cruise ships? No thanks. There's no comparison at all. Yuck!
CCCM Posted February 15, 2006 #9 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Back in 96 there was a situation then as well. Made me nervous. They said that if anything really sparked we would not go. We ended up going, as things were semi stable and it was great (beautiful). I don't think things from the rest of the country really hit this port. Cape Cruiser 2007 Posted February 15, 2006 #10 Share Posted February 15, 2006 A few CC posters have come back saying they were switched this week; and a friend is on now and they are going to Nassau

AlDubya Posted February 15, 2006 #12 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Hey!! What a brainless, witless thing to say!!! Tell me, how many shoud die in this "unrest" to make sure you get to Nassau???? Uh, I wasn't actually serious, Bob. It was more a remark of how I dislike Labadee than actually wanting the unrest to continue. Sorry for offending your delicate sensabilities, but it's quite brainless to think I was saying that I 'seriously' wanted the unrest to continue. Geesh. Some people are thick. Put one of these on it next time:D. Then, we'll get it. It might surprise you but there ARE people who think along the lines of your first post. :)
AlDubya Posted February 15, 2006 #14 Share Posted February 15, 2006 Noted. I will do so. While I dislike the port, I certainly don't want to see people hurt, maimed, or even killed so that I don't have to go there. Even if they are Haitians. :D (taking your advice)
dino76 Posted February 15, 2006 #15 Share Posted February 15, 2006 I went to Haiti on a short-term mission trip a few years ago and we went to Labadee Beach on a day off. It was fabulous. Beautiful area and beach. Quiet and relaxing. After our day off was over, we went back to the OTHER side of the big wall that separates Haiti from Labadee. The wall divides 2 very different worlds... one of the "rich" Americans and the poorest of the poor in Haiti. On the other side of the wall were armed soldiers with AK47s all over the place, yet we felt safe going through their checkpoints. Haiti's people are very friendly, but unfortunately because of the economy and politics, somewhat unstable. I WISH that I could cruise into Labadee someday... much better place to port than Nassau. Give me Labadee any day! Don't worry a minute about going to Labadee!
beachlady58 Posted February 15, 2006 #16 Share Posted February 15, 2006 I just called my TA to call RCCl again - and once again they confirmed the Radiance 2/19 is going to Labadee. I hope they are right - while Nassau is OK with me I like port days vs Sea days :)
ElvisandTracey Posted February 15, 2006 #17 Share Posted February 15, 2006 I LOVE Labadee-went in 2003 on the Navigator, going again in June on Freedom. Love Nassau too-love anywhere that isn't my office, my house, my car, the supermarket, the gym, the dry cleaners...;) You get the idea:D But I really do love Labadee, it will be a shame if things get ugly there again-it happened a few years ago and cruises stopped going there for several months- Hope it calms down. HappyCruiser383 Posted February 16, 2006 #21 Share Posted February 16, 2006 It looks like Preval won the election. Hopefully this means things will settle down for the people and we can go to Labadee!!
