What is the difference between V1 and OB? Could somebody please explain?

V1 is a specific suite category.  OB is Oceanview Balcony suite, usually applies to a booking made where no specific suite is selected at time of booking, , ie cruise line allocates the suite number (guarantee or GTY status).

When I booked, I said I was happy to take "pot luck". Travelling on the Ovation, I could see that all cabins had balconies. My paperwork states that I am in Category V1, Suite Guarantee.

I think you will find that means V1 is the minimum you will be given , which is the minimum on the Ovation anyway. I am sure you will have a great time wherever your cabin is

I agree with this. Not wanting to build expectations but you may be pleasantly surprised when your actual suite number is allocated.

 

We have taken a chance by booking a guarantee rather than a specific suite several times and it has always worked out very well.

The one time we booked an OB instead of a specific suite, we were very pleased.  In fact, we liked the suite more than the ones we had specifically chosen on other cruises.

 It stands for suite, as in all of the guest accommodations on SB are suites.
