Minnie29 Posted July 13, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2021 We are booked in Princess Grill on August cruise and are wondering what the process is for theatre seats in the boxes? is there a charge and how do you book?
BigMac1953 Posted July 13, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2021 On Gala nights there is a charge, but you get a glass of fizz and something to nibble. The concierge will arrange the booking. The concierge has a desk in the Grill Lounge, but check the times that they operate. On all other nights it's just first come first served. Host Hattie Posted July 13, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2021 Even on gala nights some of the boxes are left free for first come first served.
Lanky Lad Posted July 13, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 13, 2021 I have sat in a box once but I didn't like looking through the plastic screen. Is it worth the extra on a gala night?
lissie Posted July 13, 2021 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2021 We went and sat in one one night - we knew where the "secret stair" was because it was directly on the route to our inside cabin on deck 1. I wouldn't pay for one - there are better seats in the house
Rare elmsliebev Posted July 14, 2021 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2021 we did this on Victoria a few years ago. Got some champagne, some chocolates and (I think) some canapes. It was lovely but like Lankylad says, the screen is in your eyeline. Will stick with the main house next time.
Craigrlewis Posted July 14, 2021 #7 Share Posted July 14, 2021 We’ve sat in them a couple if times but find the top of the glass is at “eye level” so its not a great view IMHO Id suggest you sit there for a lecture (no reservations needed) and see what you think before trying a show
Huggsy Posted July 15, 2021 #8 Share Posted July 15, 2021 One afternoon, we sat in a box to watch a film which, looking through the screen was quite blurred and distorted, so we moved to another seat. I can appreciate 'the occasion' of it but glad I tried it out first, IMHO it wouldn't be worth it.
Host Hattie Posted July 15, 2021 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2021 We love the boxes so I'm glad that nobody else seems to ! We only have them when it's free.
majortom10 Posted July 15, 2021 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2021 We have never used them we went once to look at them during the day and didnt like the glass screen or the view of the stage so we never went in one even when free and certainly wouldnt pay for one. We thought there better seats with a better view in the main theatre.
Bigmike911 Posted July 17, 2021 #11 Share Posted July 17, 2021 There is a charge on Gala night for those boxes that are part of the program. You meet in an area behind the box and champagne and chocolates are served. There is also a bottle of good champagne in the box when you are taken there. Summergee Posted July 17, 2021 #12 Share Posted July 17, 2021 We use them for lectures and non gala nights. I move my seat so that the screen doesn't get in my way.

If I remember correctly, it's actually a half bottle.
cruiseluvva Posted July 18, 2021 #14 Share Posted July 18, 2021 We love the boxes too, there is more room and if I need to excuse myself it doesn’t disturb anyone. We have paid once fora Gala night performance, but wouldn’t do that again as the nibbles were horribly sweet.
