july 4'21 Carnival Horizon- some changes

We were on July 4 Horizon. It was so good to finally be sailing after all the cancellations. Happened to be an elite with the casino, so it was a great cruise. Elite was the same, and had all the deliveries to our cabin.

But there were other regular cruise changes. And we only found out about them, from others, as the week went on.

With your card:

No free water in cabin-can get 2 bottles at any bar.

Cruise pin & plat/diamond gift (lugg tag) you get at Pixels photo.

Choc strawberries you get at 'cherries on top' shop

No slot, etc. tournaments. Instead of diamond perk(the buy 1 get 1 free)- each can get $25 casino freeplay at cashier.

Took away big middle casino bar in Horizon & Vista (put in more slots & only one side is smoking) Taking longer to get drinks in there.

No menus in dining room-need to use cell phone. Menu is still posted on wall outside. Still had paper menu(same) at the diamond luncheon(no pictures taken with captain). And you can ask for one in the steakhouse.

Only drinks at the plat/diamond party (no food)

No more funtimes to your cabin-will be on phone & on cabin TV. Or can get 1 page paper at guest services.

Movies are on Lido-schedule on TV, or phone

But now $3 for popcorn on Lido.

For back to backers-even vacc. has to be tested am of 2nd cruise. Carnival said they are covering the costs.

But things can change thru out the summer.

So great to be able to cruse again!!

Went on July 10 Horizon.

 

Casino was great!

 

However, tobacco smoke in casino was horrible!!!!!

 

Anything goes with the smokers.

They smoked everywhere in casino. Gambling or not. Many just hang around and smoke.

 

No enforcement by staff on smoking rules.

 

When they removed the bar from casino atrium they sealed off the ceiling above it. (plexiglass)The smoke has nowhere to go now.

 

They only relief was go in the early hours.

 

Staff and ship were great.

 

And it was a great cruise.

I was on this cruise as well and really enjoyed it.  But the smoke was bad and drink service was terrible in the casino.  It was a Premier cruise and the casino was packed.  Unless you have free drinks everywhere, which I did, it would be frustrating trying to get drinks at the Horizon casino.

 

Did you see all the jackpots that were won?  One night the lady to my left won $10,000 and the lady at one of the center Tarzan machines (where the bar used to be) won $21,500.  Unfortunately, no jackpots for me.

It took a very long time to get drinks in the casino on our July 4 Hoizon (Elite casino group) also. And there also were many jackpots (my husband did get a $1500 one).Maybe they are making up for lost months with no activity-LOL!!
