Welcome home.  Have you been to Ausable Chasm recently?

Roy

Hi Roy,

No we did go to Ausable Chasm many years ago - in fact, it was one of the hottest days at Lake George, so we thought with all that running water it would be cooler at the Chasm.  WRONG!! Being trapped between the rock walls, it was actually hotter in there!

People with indoor cats, how often do you have sitters check in on them while cruising?  In the past I went with twice for a 7 day sailing, because the auto-feeders took care of the rest.  Most of the time they hide and sitters have reported never seeing them anyway.

Just curious.

Not an answer to your question but the maximum we could leave Max was 7 days with the automatic feeder. He was fine for 7 days with no check in but the one time we took a 10 day trip he let us know. When we arrived home he came to the door, looked us up and down,  turned around, walked off and ignored us for 2 days.  I’ll add that he was super friendly and loved strangers so the point was made.

@JazzyVso glad to hear your vision is improving, and you could read so much better.  Continued prayers for full healing!

@mamaofamiYou're taking on so much all at once. I hope you remember to take a break and take care of yourself too!

@rafinmdPraying that your tests come back with no invasive issues.

No asthma.  They did a breathing test today with a small device and a tube I had to blow in very hard.  My results were very good for my age group.  And the cough has been going on for 2 years so I am getting sick of it.  😠

I had developed a chronic cough some years ago that my doctor sort of poo-pooed.  One day we were watching Good Morning America and a segment on Barrett’s Esophagus came up.  Fast forward to me having Barrett’s Esophagus with the cough triggering my visit to the endoscophagus.

Good evening everyone. Today was another difficult dat between going to get glasses  with my new walker,  ( a huge medical building with 4 handy capped spaces)almost tripping over the entrance mat, encountering a non working elevator and trying to have Amazon arrange for pickups that Sam ordered by  mistake. When I locked myself out of his Amex and Amazon accounts, he managed to get it done. This is all very hard. I'm just trying to do too much each day and have to prioritize.

Take care of yourself please.  You have too much on your plate and need to not try to do too much.

@rafinmd yikes on what you endured today.  Hope there is nothing else to endure for a while 🤞

Carol, sorry you had such a rough day.  Remember you need to take time for yourself, so you can be there for Sam.

Good afternoon everyone and Happy Wednesday!  I’m late today. Today was DM’s appointment with the oncologist. Great news too, she does not require surgery and depending upon an upcoming PET scan will probably only need radiation. Afterward we went to Red Lobster, she had her favorite coconut shrimp and I had trout but mine was over salted for my taste. We had a glass of Matua Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough which was delightful.

Great news that your DM doesn't need more surgery.  Hope the radiation takes care of the tumor and she doesn't need any other treatment.

Good afternoon, Dailyites.  I enjoyed relaxing and looking through today's posts.  The scallops look delicious, and the tropical photos are a dream.  It's been a stressful day, so nice to come here to settle down.  I had the rattling experience of having to jump fully-clothed into the deep end to retrieve my 2 1/2-year-old DGD.  She's been taking swimming lessons and hurtled herself in, as she's convinced she can swim now.  I was closest, so jumped in after her.  Same DGD who broke her arm earlier in the summer, fearlessly attacking the monkey bars.  She is a dynamo.

Anyhow, gotta admit it shook me up.

What a scary experience.  So good that you were there.

Well, my Oncologist visits are usually pretty much routine but not so much today.  My PSA has been creeping up a bit for years, and seemed a bit quicker recently, not dramatically but noticeable.  Since "I'm not going anywhere" he called for a couple of additional tests, a PET scan and a genetic test.  The scan is yet to be scheduled while I had to do some preliminary things for the genetic test.  I ended up with 4 jabs, elbow for the routine blood work, arm for bone density, rump for hormones to hold the cancer at bay, and the other elbow for blood for the genetic test.  I also was held up for a video counseling call for the genetic test.

Oh, Roy, enough is enough.  Hope the tests come back without any bad news.  It sounds like your doctor is staying on top of things.

I hope everyone has a pleasant afternoon/evening, and that positive progress is made on all health fronts.  @grapau27, my DH actually had a habit of clearing his throat and then ditched the habit easily when I called his attention to it.  Funny what creatures of habit we all are.

Many prayers for the hurting, and a toast to those celebrating.  😊  🌻

Oh my goodness, how stressful! And she probably forgot all about 5 minutes later.

Sit down, pour a glass of wine, and dream of eating perfectly cooked scallops on a BHB in French Polynesia.

I had some concern yesterday due to very fuzzy vision in the right eye. Fortunately the pain is gone.  I'm just back from my post-op check, I have some corneal edema which explains that. It should slowly resolve.  I did know I have a couple of stitches in the cornea as it was floppy, but didn't know I have a contact lens in place so I don't feel the scratchiness of the stitches. I have a moderate flare of the uveitis with pain from light, but drops and sunglasses are helping that. Most exciting was being able to read down to 20/70 on the eye chart, when I could only count fingers before. I go back in a week to get the stitches out. I'm to take it easy - no yard work, lifting, etc. and wear my shield 24/7 for now.

@Sharon in AZ Happy Birthday to Craig.

@Horizon chaser 1957 Beautiful prints. That will make a stunning top.

@StLouisCruisers Good that the x-ray was ok. ACE-inhibitor BP meds can cause chronic cough and some other meds too.

Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

Stay safe everyone.

I’m glad the surgery went well and the eye is improving. How exciting to be getting better vision back!

Good morning, all! We are all a somebody, but most people don’t realize it. It will be hard to resist hotdogs and junk food today, and I doubt DH will even try. Hopefully tomorrow is ‘For the Love of God, Eat a Salad’ Day. There are scallops in the freezer. I can have those and DH can have a hotdog. He dislikes seafood. Scalloped potatoes were on the menu either way. It’s a nice cool day for that. We haven’t been to today’s port - yet. The pictures are appreciated.

Im extremely pleased with yesterday’s botanical prints. I printed two pieces of silk to make a top from later. Without getting too technical and boring, it’s a mix of sharp clear prints and softer ghost prints, where the original has been allowed to bleed through to the layers below it. I’ve been experimenting with my own cocktail of modifiers, and the leaves reacted to it as I had hoped.

To become front and back of a silk top.

DD is taking a friend off island for an eye exam today. Lunch, shopping, and exploring will find their way into the day somewhere. Preferably before the friends eyes are dilated.

Happy Wednesday. I can’t wait to wear my printed top to the MDR on a BHB!

What a wonderful talent. Each one is more beautiful than the last. I love trees, most art in our house is of trees, but do hate having a rake leaves 12 months of the year! Please keep sharing your creations.

@AncientWandererHow scary!   But, what a good thing that you were there.   That little girl is going to lead the world one day.   You gotta love 'em!

@rafinmdIt sounds like you had a taxing day.  I'm glad your doctor is on top of things and is being pre-emptive.  I like the strong offense move rather than always depending on defense.

@JazzyVIt sounds like your surgery was successful and you will be much better after you heal.

@mamaofamiTake it slow.  I have found through the years that if I don't get something done today, I can do it tomorrow.  Very little has a definite deadline.  You can even get extensions on taxes.

As for coughs and habits that we develop, I have developed a nervous habit of grinding my jaw.  Not my teeth, my jaw.  I do it all day long and it gets painful.  I'll stop and before I know it, I'm doing it again and don't remember starting up.  I've talked to my dentist and my primary care doctor about it.  No one has a solution.  If I hold a pencil between my teeth, I can't do it.  But, I look a little weird walking around the grocery store with the pencil in my mouth.  I've tried a bite guard and that helps most of the time.  I don't know what else to do.

@JazzyVThanks for checking in. Glad to hear you are doing well. Follow the doctor's orders. Take care.

@rafinmdSorry to hear about the appointment. Hang in there.

@AncientWandererSo scary.  Glad you were there.  Kids and water-you need eyes in the back of your head!

@mamaofamiTake a deep breath.  Things will get better.  Be sure to look after yourself, in order to help Sam.

@Horizon chaser 1957 oh my gosh, those silk prints are gor-geous ! ! !   They are going to become a beautiful top for you!

@JazzyV I'm happy to read that your eye is improving - take it slow and let it heal properly.

@StLouisCruisers sorry you weren't able to get to the origin of your cough; a friend of ours has had one (and a very bad one at that) for a number of years that still remains a mystery to her medical team.  Hopefully yours will have a simple solution.

@atexsix before we had our Ragdoll, we had someone come into the house twice a day to dish out the wet food and clean the litter box.  Now with our Sochi, we have a house/pet sitter come to live in for the duration of our absence.

Smooth Sailing!

Gerry

I think that's best, twice per day is ideal.

LoL.  Yes that sounds like a cat.  When Dear Dad came home after a month in England his cat at the time swatted at him with his paw for about a week.

But we've had no problem leaving past cats for a week when they were younger and healthier, unfortunately now our current kitty has a special diet of wet food at set times.

Savor a succulent Nathan’s Famous gourmet hot dog with golden French fries.

I am looking forward to our September cruise to Alaska on the Nieuw Amsterdam. I plan to stop in at least once at the Dive-In to enjoy a Nathan's dog.

You might consider seeing a TMJ specialist. Maybe they would be helpful.

I find that I chew the left side of my teeth and like you said I don’t realize I’m doing it until I feel the pressure. I don’t do it at night sleeping just during the day. I blame it on a root canal I had done. It never has been the same since.

Sorry to hear everything you have to go through.

Paulines late dad had a prostate op in 1997 for his cancer and was in remission and good health for 11 years.

Treatment has improved dramatically since then so our prayers are for you to live a very long and healthy life.

Best wishes.

Graham & Pauline.

Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes to Craig. Our Daily family is the best!  I’ll forward them on to him. He went into the office today (he works from home) and texted me that he got a $70 gift card to his favorite local bookstore. He will be a happy camper with that many books.

Thank you for the Daily Rich. I’m with you on the too many disappointments. At first I wanted to rush in and book the first cruise for July 24th but decided I’d better hold off and book something that Craig and I would both enjoy since we had just been to Alaska on our last cruise.

Thank you for your lists Roy. Hopefully your appointments went well today. @JazzyV, such great news about your eye today. Prayers to everyone on the Care list.

Have a great day everyone!

Very pleasing news about your dear mam Sharon.

Prayers 🙏 for her recovery.

Graham.
