Rare Honolulu Blue Posted August 6, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 6, 2021 Thanks for sharing. A couple of notes: St. Thomas is currently only allowing ships with ONLY vaccinated passengers to dock. It's an interesting way for Carnival to thumb their nose at whats-his-name since Florida has no authority to change cruise ship's itineraries or other state/territory laws. St. Kitts currently has a limit of 700 disembarking passengers per ship per day. This could be managed by allowing only ship tours and carefully managing capacity. Or there could be another change coming to skip St. Kitts and go somewhere else. Royal chose the latter option; it'll be interesting to see what Carnival does. As noted in this notice, people with an exemption and the families that love them get a free day on the ship in San Juan.
Fury1995 Posted August 6, 2021 #3 Share Posted August 6, 2021 It seems the Bahamas is going to get extremely busy with all the changed itineraries, not just with Carnival. Likely more restrictions will come from the Bahamian government to protect their resident population as more itinerary changes are announced. I assume these discussions are have been taking place privately to accommodate the cruise lines but we haven't seen how the recent public announcements (and possibly future announcements) will be received by the citizens of the islands...

Rare BoozinCroozin Posted August 6, 2021 #5 Share Posted August 6, 2021 Oh wow. I hope our November 20 Magic cruise shifts to St Maarten, St Thomas, OSJ, and Amber Cove. I would love that St Thomas for St Kitts and will live with Amber Cove for Grand Turks.

I'm vaccinated but between having to wear a mask on the ship and figuring out the logistics of dealing with a covid test has really dampened my enthusiasm. And since we have to fly to Florida what happens if a covid test comes up positive? Then I would have to deal with airline cancellations in addition to a cruise cancellation. A vacation is supposed to be for relaxing and all this sounds too stressful and annoying.
Rare Oceansaway17 Posted August 6, 2021 #8 Share Posted August 6, 2021 wow that means a ship with no kids then. hmmm not a good strategy. See this whole issue over non 100% vaccinate cruising is because it is summer time and parents take their kids on vacations. Many ships would be very empty if not for families. And the beat goes on...................

I was able to do the Fascination 7-day, 5-island cruise before they removed that ship and itinerary. No better Western Hemisphere short cruise than starting in San Juan & traveling to St Thomas, St Maarten, St Kitts, St Lucia and Barbados. We definitely got our money’s worth.

I know it was out of San Juan, but I believe it was 8 days. I know we stopped in Dominica (place I always wanted to see), Antigua, and some of the others on the list. On way back the ship "listed", in the middle of the night. Such a rude awakening!😬. There was a rough storm as we sailed past Cuba. Was traveling solo, so only thing for comfort was a towel animal!😆 This is cruise I'll never forget. 1

frito58 Posted August 9, 2021 #18 Share Posted August 9, 2021 I love cruising and leave this Saturday on the Sunrise and then in September on Royal to Alaska but after that I’m out for awhile until they get their act together. Too many rule changes and what if’s and maybes for me. You may stop here , you need a test . We are vaccinated so will do land vacations where I can fly In and be welcome with my vaccine card. nascartim Posted August 9, 2021 #19 Share Posted August 9, 2021 I'm going on the Sunrise October 18th, I noticed they jumped right over that date in this latest update. They have updated itineraries for Oct 4th & Oct 23rd, nothing for the 18th? Strange.

Its been a crazy Monday so far and I laughed outloud!! I have also been on a ship that listed and I was crew. It was terrifying and we were having to try to keep others calm! I was a 23 year old and was far from calm! I wanted my Daddy!

toad455 Posted August 10, 2021 #24 Share Posted August 10, 2021 With the Delta variant still causing cases to rise and a lot of the Caribbean islands now seeing a rise in cases as well, I wouldn't expect any cruise line to increase their capacity any time soon. It'll be interesting to see itineraries change in October and November again with islands limiting the amount of pax getting off. Don't see Nassau allowing 3 or more ships in at a time until the numbers start to decrease. Same for St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Aruba, etc.
