VD balconies on Westerdam

anyone with experience with the VD class verandah cabins on the Westerdam? These are on the upper promenade deck. Are the balconies open or covered? Do you look out over the promenade deck?

No but I did get VD from a girl on a balcony at a Best Western Motel once.

Balconies in the veranda cabins are covered. The promenade deck does not jut out from the ship. You will be able to sit or stand and see out to sea. Some ships have balconies that are like "french" balconies, barely wide enough to stand. The HAL verandas are wide enough for a lounger, chair, and table plus room to walk around.

They suggest that you do not leave the balcony door open during the day as it interferes with your cabin air conditioning, probably at night too, but we love to hear the waves.
