Its the Getaway.  Not really fussed about the config, its mainly that large AFT balcony im looking for.  Ive had a look for a spreadsheet but im really new to this and cant find it.

Am i right in saying in both of the above they are at each end of the ship at the back and therefore have the same huge balcony ?

And am i allowed to put a bid in for each of them and i presume they only take 1 charge if successful.

Here is the link to the thread.

You are correct that the aft penthouses are the corner suites decks 9 - 14.  Deck 9 having the largest balcony.  That was our first Haven experience.  Absolutely loved it, other than distance from the Haven itself.

You can bid on as many options as the system is showing you.  If any are excepted the rest are canceled and you get whichever room they give you.  Good luck.

Studio cabins are not eligible for the Upgrade Advantage program.

So, a few years ago, PP (pre-pandemic), a friend and I booked studio cabins on the Breakaway.  About 1 or 2 weeks before sailing, they dropped the price of balcony cabins and dropped the 2nd person supplement charge (for single cruisers).  We both called and each of us got our own balcony cabin for like $50 more than we paid for our studio!  It was a guarantee balcony, but I did put in a request for an aft if available...AND I GOT IT!!  It was pretty awesome.

Yesterday, I booked a club balcony mini-suite with extended balcony (those ones on deck 8 ) on the Breakaway...for mid October...I just looked around to see how many suites were still available (too see what our chances of Haven offerings)...seems like alot of the Haven class cabins are sold out, only a few (less then 20) of regular haven cabins, and quite a few (about 15, more) of the 2 bedroom haven suites... If we get an offer, not sure I would bid...I'm really looking forward to the large balcony.(which none of those have)..we've done the big fancy suites before, yes, they're very nice...but in addition to the extra price, you have more people to tip (room steward, butler, concierge) ..so factor that in your cost too.

Received an email today saying that our offer to upgrade was accepted.

With a "fair" rated offer, we went from Family Balcony  B4 (just the two of us) to The Haven Courtyard Penthouse with Balcony HF.

This is for the Sept. 13 Getaway cruise out of Rome.

Only bid on Haven Suites. Did not bid on Club Balconies or anything else.

I am new to cruising, so this may be obvious...but how can you view when stateroom prices have dropped? Should I just check from the main listings occasionally or is posted somewhere?

I currently have a Sail Away Balcony booked for Sept 23 on the Getaway...if I bid to upgrade to club and it's accepted am I likely to get another sail away club?

Just check as if you were making a new booking.

Anytime you bid you are essentially getting a "sail away" booking - no choice of cabin, only the perks that you already had and/or any perks that come with the cabin.  Since you basically have no perks, you might be able to just do an upgrade by paying the difference between what you paid and the current cost of the room you want.

We received invitation to bid for our October cruise. We currently have an Wheelchair accessible cabin and it fits our needs. I cannot find anything in bid documents FAQ or terms about Wheelchair accessible cabins, they specify Spa rooms but not WA cabins. Anyone have past history or should I give NCL a call to see if there is opportunity to upgrade to another WA cabin?

I would suggest calling them first.   If the Wheelchair accessible is required.  My understanding is you get whatever they have.  I don't know if they take into account Wheelchair accessible if you bid.

if accessible is a necessity then do not bid. You will not be guaranteed getting another accessible cabin

Well I called NCL and it is a no go for bidding if you need the wheelchair accessible room, the company that does the bidding process cannot differentiate between the cabins of what is accessible and what is not.  I will wait to join the bidding fun for our Dawn December cruise when we do not need an accessible cabin.

At which point is an upgrade not happening ?  Is there a cut off day that says thats it and bids are ended.  And are "poor" bids on NCL unlikely for cruises going off in the next week or so ?

upgrades are usually notified between 2 and 4 days before the cruise. So I would guess you need to get one in at least a week before.

FYI, I booked a 9 day Japan cruise with CAS in a club balcony. I called my casino host last week and he upgraded me to a suite for $217pp. Will save about that much just with the free room service charges...lol.

Host name, please??

what are max bid prices from inside to Balcony? I would love an AFT. We have upgraded but it is expensive and I would love to save $$$

Pretty unanswerable question.  I think that would depend on the ship, the destination, the length of the sailing and such.  The bidding process is pretty mysterious, hard to say if the bids are linked to your initial cost, availability of cabins and so forth - or just random.  NCL contracts a 3rd party to take care of it.

I upgraded to an aft once (not a bid) because prices dropped and it became available shortly before I sailed - just a lucky find.  I won a low bid on a balcony because my family OV category was sold out and they wanted to open it back up - this was just after final payment.

When you say “suite” do you mean the Haven?  If so that’s an incredible deal.

Hi.  This will be my second Norwegian Cruise.  Baltic May 2022.  Was not aware of bidding for upgrade til I read this thread.  Apologize for my ignorance. Gather that som folks get offered an opportunity to bid to upgrade their stateroom. When you receive the opportunity does it specify an upgrade to a particular cabin or just to a higher category please.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge.

Upgrade offers are for categories, NOT specific staterooms.

No, Haven is not available on the Norwegian Sun, only penthouse and owners suites. Moved into the lowest level of "true" Suite category.  But still a "suite" deal!!!
