9/18/2021 - We made it

We were one week away from this room and this ship March 2020.  Then we know what happened.

18 months later, we MADE IT!

Getting here was a bit tough.  AA mechanical on plane and ZERO ability to do anything to get us here on Friday.  We'd be flying through 2 airports all night with 4 hours of sleep.  Ohh, their system does not work with Delta which I could have booked and gotten us to MIA early evening.  AA - what a CLUSTER you are.

That behind us, UBER driver was fabulous and got us here at 10:45.  YC tent was open and ready.

We are now moving so not much more.

So far:

It is like a first date.  Staff super excited to see us and we are to see them.  Took a bit over 45 minutes tent to ship.  Robert Balla back at home and Robbie from Scotland here.  He is very nice.

Things are beyond belief.  Anybody doesn't like this ship I find hard to believe.  It is beyond a beauty.  One of the best I've seen. Things are low in terms of people on board.  I've heard anywhere from 800-1500.  I'd guess maybe 1000.

Main miss so far is the fitbit wrist thing barely works but that is not unusual with MSC IT although the old round ones worked well.  Pics as time allows.

Just got off the Meravihlia. Enjoy the YC. Robbie is great.

Robbie is new to MSC, previously with Viking River Cruises.  Agree.  A great add to the Yacht Club Directors.  Looking forward to seeing him again on Meraviglia in December as she moved home port to Canaveral.

Sorry no pictures yet.  Route changed.  Today was supposed to be OC to 11 pm, now we just left.  Sea day tomorrow, Ocho Rios now Tuesday instead of Thurs. then sea day, OC on Thurs to 11 p.m. and Nassau Friday.  Not sure why the change and about half the staff we asked had no idea of change.  I'm fine with it but curious.

Thanks to all for the well wishes.  It has been wonderful so far.  I'll probably say this ten times, the staff onboard are so happy to see us as we are to see them.  They are so nice and wanting to serve.  We went to Sky lounge last night for the view and we had Sam and Mary so excited to have people come in.

Embarkation was a big mystery for us as not a lot of reports here.  So at white tent we had to present luggage, boarding docs, passport, negative test, and vax card.  Then escorted through security then to inside lounge which I have seen picture and it is tiny compared to what we've had in the past here upstairs.  Not sure why it is now a small venue.

We had to present all the same papers again which they held and waited as they processed people.  Basic snack and drinks.  Then escorted in groups onto ship.  Once right onboard you get the wristband thing.  It has to sync with your cruise card which it didn't for any of us.  Go to Concierge and they'll link them although, as stated earlier, the fitbit thing does not work well, at all.

Voyagers Club must be missing like those trying to status match.  Have had nothing in our room about the benefits and perks.  This will be looked into tonight.

They have an in room breakfast flyer plus QR for room service.  RS cabana is per ask.  We'll probably ask for the sea days.

There you are.  Haven't seen you in over a year.  Figured you and DH would be on NCL to Alaska this year.

Yes...I am here!  Fun to be back on CC again.  Glad I saw you were cruising this week.  Are your kiddos onboard with you and DW?  So fun to be in the RS😉

We will be on the Divina on Oct 3.  First time on this ship.  Would love your "secrets", lol.  We grabbed one of the YC Deluxe square suites!

Sure hope your week goes by super slooooow for you 😁

Bon Voyage 🛳 🥂🍾🏝

Are you port or starboard?  RS Cabana not already reserved for you?

We thought is gets automatically reserved for the week with Cabin # posted.
Sorry for all the questions. We will have starboard for our cruise😉

Looking forward to your posts.🎉

October 2nd here also in the YC. Waiting for our upgrade bid to come in. Trying to get to a YC Balcony from a YC int. Did the minimum bid. Fingers crossed.

You will probably get it - I think it was $~1550 total from YC Int to YC Balcony.   Good Luck!

DD got to go.  DS just started college so he was unable to go and he misses being on the ship.   This ship only has three cabanas by the TSL pool.  We were told we could request one ahead of time but did not do so today.  We went up to pool area and Bryan the pool server said your cabana is waiting.  We had one on the Seaside which has like 8 or 10 of them so it was nice.  Cooler was already stocked.

Not sure if you saw but we go on Divinia 9/26 hopefully for 4 days.  We'll miss you by a couple days.

We took our first MSC in 2017 on Divinia.  It is a smaller version of this ship except the restaurant is in the back.  When we sailed we had a Royal and our DS and his friend had one of those square rooms, they are nice and have a closest you can walk in as I recall.  The Royals on that ship are ok but we went with a Family Executive type on deck 12 - wanted to try something different.

Secrets, we'll supposedly Arthur is working in the YC restaurant or somewhere in YC which would be great.  That guy makes the energizer bunny look like a zombie.  The other, and it doesn't probably matter so much now with lighter loads, but to get to the restaurant we found it easiest to go down to first public stateroom deck, zip to the back, then up stairs to Le Muse.  You can go up and outside though too.  The first night the butler may take you down to the main atrium deck and then back up but that can be busy.

We are starboard.  I think the port RS is empty.  Only 3 cabanas by pool and did not see numbers like on Seaside.  Told we could request in advance (like day by day) but when we went up today, Bryan the pool server said your cabana is ready but we had never reserved so it was a nice surprise.
