The U.S. is reportedly set to reopen its borders to vaccinated passengers from the U.K. and European Union from November.

The Financial Times reports that U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration will announce the changes on Monday, bringing to an end a gruelling 18-month COVID-19 travel ban that was first imposed by President Donald Trump.

Citing multiple sources, the Financial Times notes that fully vaccinated passengers will be able to travel to the U.S. in a few weeks, though an exact time frame hasn’t been detailed.

Currently, only U.S. citizens and their immediate families, green card holders and travelers with special exemptions can travel Stateside if they’ve been in the U.K. or European Union in the 14 days before travel.

So good news!

Fed up of speculation !

Let’s have a confirmed date before getting excited.

Also knowing which tests will be required and where you can get them after transatlantic flight would be interesting.

We normally fly in a few days pre cruise, so would probably need one to fly and one to board.

Did hear of some people spending fortnight in Barbados before flying into States, as Barbados was Green list and travellers from there were allowed into USA. That was earlier in summer.

Certainly hope you are right !

Good news, indeed.  I've no plans to be travelling to America before our March 2023 cruise but it does open up the prospect of thinking again about the Alaska cruise that was cancelled on us last year. Maybe, or maybe not, the moment for that has passed (it was intended as a 70th birthday present to myself)

The Travel ban is being lifted for EU and U.K. double vaccinated travellers from November.

“The White House coronavirus response coordinator, Jeff Zients, said on Monday international travellers will require proof of full vaccination before boarding a flight and a negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours of departure.”
