tjosh7 Posted May 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Thinking about booking either Conquest or Sensation out of nearby New Orleans during the Christmas holiday. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated? I would imagine lots of families with children... tpear3 Posted May 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2004 I have never sailed during Christmas and sure hope someone who has will respond to you soon; however, I do know that I booked last fall for our Elation Christmas Cruise and have only seen the prices go up. We have also received upgrades--all 5 rooms. By the way myself, my two sisters and our families are joining our parents for this cruise--8 children ages 4-16--and we are all very excited. Of course we travel as a large group together often, so the children know what is expected of them. Good luck! tef43 Posted May 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2004 It will be expensive and crowded. I have seen rates as much as TRIPLE the amount of an early-December cruise on same ship/itinerary. That said, if you are set on going, book as soon as possible. They sell out fast and are rarely, if ever, discounted. Tom <--- Curmudgeon of the Seas Eleven cruises so far. Up next: Shhhh, it's a surprise! And then: Carnival Spirit 12/10/05 Mexican Riviera Perhaps something else as well. Watch this space. Dance like it hurts, love like you need money, and work when somebody's watching.
CruiseFever Posted May 7, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2004 We've cruised during the December holidays for the last several years and really can't imagine not being at sea during this time....although if we went a few weeks later we could save a ton of money Still, its a festive time and the ship really goes all out. tpear3 Posted May 7, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Chris, you show Christmas trees for sale. Are these small enough to fit into a/any cabin? Do you remember prices? I would love to surprise the kids with a small tree on Christmas morning. Thanks for the information. Nice to wake up Christmas morning in Cozumel with 85 degree weather. Would do it again in a second. But, not as a single. definately a family gig. CruiseFever Posted May 7, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2004 They were $35 and sold in the Formalities shop They came with lights already attached and stood about 3 ft tall. I can't believe I don't have photos of this tree but I haven't been able to find any yet ..if I do I will post them Happy Cruising Chris www.LifeIsCruising.com Next up: Caribbean Princess 06/26/04 Star Princess 10/24/04 Diamond Princess 12/22/04 Carnival Miracle 03/13/
atonal1 Posted May 7, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2004 I sailed on Serenade of the Seas Christmas 2003. What a blast!!! Yes there were a lot of families, but it didn't bother me (and I went stag). This year I'm sailing during Thanksgiving, (with DW this time) and I expect to see more families/children than I did at Christmas. I booked the Christmas cruise in July, and as I checked for price drops, the price spiked up $750 p/p. So book ASAP.
