Good morning all!  It seems to have been a busy morning so far.  Still having nice weather which is a relief after the rains we've had all month, and summer really.  So many great days to celebrate today.  Stupid questions, good neighbors, public lands, drinking beer, and best of all National Sons Day.  I salute my wonderful son.  He's added so much love to our lives.  Not to mention the four grandsons.

Thanks for our Daily today Rich and the lists Roy.  @JazzyV, @dfishand @mamaofamibest of luck for you three during your procedures today.  Prayers that all goes well.  Also thanks to Debbie for the recipes and photos today.  Chili sounds good but I would add some beef.  Have a safe trip to Florida @JAM37.

We enjoyed scenic cruising in Prince Christian Sound August 9, 2018 on Seabourn Quest.  I took several hundred photos that day, but some photos were of the caviar-vodka-champagne deck party in the afternoon.  They seem to schedule that party during scenic cruising days.  Weather was cold but refreshing.  We got to view some new (to us) glaciers.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVICUgmd3BFsj9SeV__eMfvL?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1538503566

Aappilattioq

6 minutes ago, Quartzsite Cruiser said:

Good morning from central Texas.  It is going to be a busy morning.  I'm going to try to get the yard mowed and then to the store before our rain chances increase later to day.  The "Infamous They" at the weather service are predicting rain through Sunday.  I'll believe it when I see it, but we could use some rain.

And interesting collectionof days.  I agree that there are no stupid questions.  I think the stupidest answer to a question, especially by a teacher to a fifth grader, was that I ask too many questions.  Needless to say, that year I quit asking questions and getting answers.

We have good neighbors who look after each other, and some that only look after themselves.  Our public lands are very important and should be protected.  It will be interesting to see what happens in Quartzsite next to our neighborhood.  We learned yesterday that a company is planning to put in a solar farm at the end of the development on what we thought were public lands.

I agree with Margaret Mead's quote.  She was an interesting lady.

You lost me at gin for the drink of the day.  The red wine sounds like one I want to taste.  We like meat in our chili, but the meatless version would be good when our vegetarians are here.

@JAM37  Have a safe trip to Florida.

@Vict0riann  Glad the bump is not serious and can be tackled after your cruise.

@mamaofami  Hope your dental visit goes well.  It sounds like a good plan to take the insurance papers with you to the rehab facility.

@rafinmd  Thanks for the beautiful sunrise picture.

@smitty34877  Terry, I'm glad the DGC are feeling better.

@tjcox9  Great pictures.

We have sailed through Prince Christian Sund four times and have pictures of three times.  Our first time was on the Rotterdam in 2003, and it was a wet, gray, misty day.  In 2009 on the Tahitian Princess, we must have sailed through at night as I don't have any pictures.  In 2017, we sailed west bound to visit Nanortalik and Qaqaortog, and then we headed east through the sound to Iceland.

On the westbound journey, Captain DD and a few officers when ashore at the little village of Aappilattioq to arrange a call there on the way back.  We were most likely the first ship to visit the village.  All my pictures were taken on the eastbound trip as it was a beautiful day.

Just a few pictures of Prince Christian Sund.  I'd basically describe the sound as a long, open ended fjord.

These pictures should give you an idea of what Aappilattioq looks like.  There are very few if any locals in the pictures.  Besides bringing the children on board Prinsendam for hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza, most of the adults were on board while we were ashore.  It's such a small place, the passengers were divided into three groups and given an hour or so to walk around the village.

I think most of the passengers were glad Captain DD arranged our stop there.

Lenda

We've also been through more than once, but like you, the others were not as clear. Great pix of Aappilattioq!

Good Morning! It’s a beautiful day. I’m a pro at asking dumb questions it’s the dumb answer back that adds to the confusion!

What’s the dumbest thing I ever said on a cruise ship? Standing in the omelet line for breakfast and it was finally my turn. “I’ll have two egg beaters over easy” The cook just looked at me strangely so I repeated “ two egg beaters over easy!” Another strange look and than it hit me “ duh that would be pretty hard to do wouldn’t it?” We both laughed and I had a omelet.

Some pics from our Eurodam cruise through Prince Edward Sund.

Good morning, thanks for the Daily!  Early in my career I was told the only stupid question is one that wasn't asked.  We are blessed with good neighbours and are appreciative of our public lands.

Another beautiful day in the offing - yesterday we hit a high of +29C and are expecting the same today.  We revel in these days, knowing full well they will soon be replaced with many months of minus degree temperatures.  Yesterday we took advantage of the good weather to clean out the fountain - it was getting pretty grimy from all the birds and their bathing, and setting it back up again.  It's amazing how much water they go through with all the splooshing and splashing they do!

I like today's menu suggestion, but we are carnivores, so will certainly be making it with ground beef.  I like having chili on hand in the freezer, so I think today I'll break out the slow cooker, toss everything together and let it cook all day.  Accompanied by a crisp green salad and crusty buns, that's going to be what will be on our dinner table tonight.  And wine.

@Quartzsite Cruiserwe have a 1992 Jaguar XJS as our topless ride.  I do love Volvos; they look so cool!

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  Clinking the glasses together tonight to celebrate all on the happy list.  Stay safe, wash your hands, be well, wear your masks, and hydrate!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Good Morning All,

We’re starting off with cloud cover again today, but rumor runs it’s supposed to break and get hot. Yesterday it looked like rain all day. It was lovely. And a bowl of chili would have been perfect.

@mamaofami glad to hear Sam is coming home soon.

Good morning.  I'm the only full timer in my neighborhood so I'm a good neighbor everyday watching out for the other houses.

I’m not sure if you mean neighbors only are present during vacation, or if you are based full time at home, but I like that term, and think I might borrow it in place of “retired and at home”.

All these pictures and talk about cruising is really making me want to get on a ship. Checked out the upcoming NA from San Diego and there’s a great price…. Then I remembered I put out some requests for bids on our yard and am expecting the next trade (install the arbor) at the end of October, so IF I can get someone to do the yard before then, I really need to be here. And because pipe goes under the new arbor slab, I really hope it happens. So I guess instead I should work on my pictures from Norway in 2019.😳

Have a great day everyone!

Several of our neighbors are Canadian, therefore they haven’t been down for a couple of years. The others come down every couple of months for a few weeks. Hubby and I live here full-time year-round enjoying the Florida sun.

Glad you enjoyed!  Yes, there is plenty to look forward to.  Our trip started in Reykjavik and finished up in Montreal, doing plenty of stops in Greenland and Canada, so I hope that is similar to your itinerary.  We had a great time.  Also enjoyed Antarctica on the Quest tremendously.  Best cruise ever!

@tjcox9another thing I want to mention is Seabourn did a Galley Market Lunch on this particular cruise which was something we didn't do on the Antarctica cruise.  You go to the dining room and choose your table, then walk into the Galley and wash your hands thoroughly at the stations just inside the door.  You then stroll through the Galley and choose whatever you want to eat.  So many choices!!  The crab legs and salmon were quite popular.  Honestly it was one of the best lunches we've ever eaten on a ship and very memorable.  You can go back as many times as you want so don't forget desserts.

Good morning, Dailyites!  Thank you, Rich, Roy,  and all who post such interesting stuff.    I like chilli, but I don't think I have ever made it - I'm not even sure I spelled it right.  I do know that if I made it,  I would definitely want corn bread with it.  Why is that?  Maybe a childhood memory?

Pat is off to the bank this morning to get the Euros and US dollars we will need for the cruise.  A week from today we will be boarding, so we will hunker down after the bank and sort of isolate until we leave, although I do have an appointment for a haircut on Saturday. I think we will attend virtual Mass on Sunday, as there is always a crowd in church - and they sing.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing this.  Captain Bart is a favorite of mine as was his senior staff of the Zuiderdam in July, 2019.  We did the Viking Passage, a cruise from Rotterdam to Boston which did the Prins Christian Sund much to our delight.

Good morning everyone and Happy Tuesday!  Thank you for the Daily Rich and thank you for your lists Roy.

Great collection of days today and even extra ones added. I’ll pass on the meal suggestion, I prefer my crockpot recipe. I’ve tried other recipes over the years but keep going back to the original one I found in a crockpot recipe book that was inside a crockpot given to us as a wedding gift. I do add extra chili powder and spices to make it zippier.

DM gave me a new list of things she needs me to pick up for her, so I might go to Target today. I’m battling a nagging headache though and might put it off until tomorrow.

Bruce, @aliaschief, I was looking at cabins on halfacts and there’s a bunch posted of the Nieuw Amsterdam PS. Just beautiful!

Have a great day everyone!

Enjoy!

We've done two of those. However, on the Antarctica cruise, they did have one but we did not attend as we both had colds and thought it best not to inflict ourselves on others! Yes, they are amazing and the two we've attended had different items.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

Good days. I haven't asked a stupid question yet today, I don't think 😁. We should all be good neighbors and public lands are important.

Great quote. I like the meal, although too much for me today. Pass on the gin drink. I like the wine too, but no alcohol allowed today.

I haven't been to today's port. Thanks for the pictures.

It poured rain and there was hail earlier today. Now it's just gloomy.

Well, colonoscopy is done! I've been up since 3AM to do the 2nd part of the prep. As usual, I was made a pincushion trying to get an IV in; I think I was dehydrated despite drinking a whole lot yesterday. Apparently they removed a number of small polyps. I'm supposed to call in 10 days for pathology reports, but I'm sure they'll pop up in the electronic chart sooner than that. I'm easing back into a diet today, starting with coffee of course. I'm so sleepy; post-sedation effects likely. I may try to nap, but usually it's something I can't do and end up just laying there.

@dfish Wishing you the best on your procedure today.

@JAM37 Safe travels tomorrow.

@mamaofami That dental trip does not sound like fun; I hope it's not painful.

@smitty34877 I'm glad the DGC are starting to feel better.

@StLouisCruisers Hope you're feeling 100% soon.

Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

Stay safe and wear your mask. We had 436 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, so I'm being dutiful with masking and social distancing.

Speaking of sons, I found mine wore me out. After the long flights to Mobile and back, and keeping up with my youngest and my grandson, we were going all the time. Then when I got home my oldest son came and helped me get things ready for winter and I kept up with him to get it all done.  I actually slept in today until 9. I feel more refreshed.  Love my sons, I just have to remind myself I'm not as young as they are.

Good morning everyone. Thanks Rich and all who make this a place to be with my coffee every morning possible. I am starting to get excited about our cruise in 12 days.
