So this is about you taking advantage of a pricing error on the MSC website?

Definitely appears to be a pricing error which explains why MSC did not refund the difference in cost when they moved their room from YC to deck 8.

I thought thousands of dollars were spent on the YC Grand suite but in reality he paid balcony prices for that YC room IN ERROR. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m thinking MSC will figure out the other cruise booked in March with those prices is in error also and same thing will happen with downgraded room.

It’s hard to feel bad about the situation at this point. Karma.

No pricing error at all.

I have another actually a b2b about the same cost.  About 3k a week.

So you didn’t pay $1200pp for YC grand suite for 10/24?

You paid $6000 total for 10/24 cruise as well?

If so my apologies and I would be fighting for that refund/price difference rn not at the port

I sincerely doubt agents  at the port will be able to help with that

Actually I have 1 more around that pricing and I have paid them all off in full so no error

Yes I did pay that as well as on the other 3. So there goes the pricing error claim.

Also the T&C states " No change to the cruise package price once full payment has been received"

It was their phone rep who directed me to this cruise as I was on the phone upgrading my Meraviglia cruise that leaves a day earlier.

I am not fighting it, I am just showing up to my cruise. I do not have anything in writing to tell me otherwise.

Just because I saw something on a chat board means nothing.

I will not show up unless advised to.

Styles, I think the 6000.00 is for a 2 week back to back cruise.  So basically he did only pay roughly 3000.00 per each week (almost the same as he paid for the single week of 10/24)

If that is for one person, then it seems a good deal, but not an error.

If you really do just show up, I predict you will be greatly disappointed. What won’t happen is they will look at your ticket and say, “it says yacht club on his ticket, we have to give him everything he wants.”

if they don’t give you everything you want when you show up at the pier, then what?

I won't be disappointed, as I am prepared, and I am dropping off friends on the Allure that day.

The issue I have, is if I don't show up, I lose all the money.

Just like ladySpoilt said, she had to call, waste a ton of time on the phone, and she got charged the penalty and had to fight for it.

I don't understand what part of "I have received no written communication" is being misunderstood.

Also, this is allegedly a charter. MSC is a member of the CLIA  so.....

Passenger “Buy Offs”

This is a common term that relates to what happens when a charterer wants a specific date but there are already passengers booked on that sailing. The cruise line will then have to inspire those passengers to move to a different date (often with special pricing incentives) and the cost for these “buy offs” are then included in the charter contract.

Like Steve I did not receive any communication either, I think the only communication that went out was to the cruisers that originally booked the 3/4 cruises.  Steve and I and probably some others booked a 7 day from the beginning.  I found out about the Salsa cruise and the subsequent problems on this board.  And then saw that I had been "demoted" when my cruise documents arrived.

Since Cruise Critic is probably read by a minority amount of cruisers there may well be some that have no idea what had/is happening until they scan their boarding documents.

That’s who I’m thinking about as well. None of our friends that we travel with are on CC, they rely on me to pass on all of the info.
I have a feeling that terminal is going to be a nightmare that day.

I suspect those others in YC or should I say not anymore ,are going to uncork a gasket.

This is going to fall into the take it or leave it area.

They are counting on those people who just flew in to go anyways and those who knew ahead of time to cancel.

Every now and then you run into that one person.

Don't you mean when they don't give me everything I paid for?

My last confirmation from MSC for my YC GS is dated 9/17/2021  that is only 13 days ago.

FWIW, here is my interpretation.

I'm guessing that they are designating that block of cabins on Deck 8 as YC for that cruise. There will be a butler and other appropriate services.  Those passengers will be escorted to those cabins as indicated on the luggage tags.

At least that is what I would expect if it was me.

I agree. The bigger question that I have though is will those passengers be able to access the YC area of the ship for dining, Top Sail lounge, pool and spa etc?

For us that was the plus of being in the YC. We didn’t really utilize our butler very much.  We loved the exclusiveness and small ship feel of the YC area.

But where is my bathtub?

Direct access to the spa?

My Serenity (their words not mine)

My Exclusivity? ( again their words)

The space.  So do I get 3 cabins?

Here is something from their website.

he ultimate VIP treatment experience —  MSC Yacht Club offers exclusivity, privacy with luxurious accommodations, fine dining, your own personal butler, the best views, and so much more. Plan your all-inclusive cruise in the MSC Yacht Club.

Yes, that is a very good question.

This topic has now taken up at least 3 threads. Let me see if I can summarize...

1) MSC took a group of "salsa" pax and in doing so kicked a lot of people out of the YC

2) MSC didn't notify anyone (or only select few) about this issue

3) MSC "claims" you'll be in YC on deck 8, but I don't think anyone here believes it (i.e., they believe they'll be in deck 8 but don't believe it will be a YC experience)

4) Some people have been able to get a full refund "promised" and cancel their cruise.

5) Others (because they are unaware of what is going on, or for other more "interesting" reasons) will be showing up at the port and expecting their rooms *within* the YC area

6) At least one of the people in #5 will be wearing a body cam and live streaming this 🙂

Did I miss anything?

And...is anyone surprised at all MSC handled things this way?

Not bad

MSC did not take a group in, they gave them the whole ship. (Salsa just started selling the YC cabins over a week ago despite knowing they were sold already. (I have the email from Salsa on that). Why? Because when you charter a ship you get all the rooms.)

MSC sold this to many of us in the last month when they gave it to Salsa in July.

Here is from Salsa.....

While we do not know the full scope of the arrangements that MSC is making with their existing guests for this sailing, this is our understanding of the situation. MSC will be making an effort to accommodate existing guests from their original sailing on the Divina on to our charter should they decide to remain on board however they would be in cabins on decks 8 and 9. On our end of the on board inventory, we have sold all the Yacht Club rooms to our guests. I am so sorry that you have been having difficulties receiving proper communication with MSC let along resolution.

You won't get your original room in YC.  You won't be happy with "Deck 8 YC" if that even exists.   What are you hoping to gain?  Class action suit?

I just want

1. What I paid for

2. A shift to the prior weeks or following weeks cruise at no additional cost. They want $2500 to do it.

3. For them to follow the T&C as outlines in the passenger contract.

I am not being unreasonable at all, as I have NOT been notified.
