Pictures taken between Monday, October 4 and Sunday, October 10.

Photos please!

Rules: See above

That's it. This isn't a contest.

All photos taken this week are welcome (not just cruising).

Prizes will not be awarded. Discovering the joy of photography is the prize.

The idea is to get folks out using their cameras for more than vacations and toddler birthdays.

Post one. Post many. Up to you.

Have fun with your camera and share your fun with others!

After a short break, the house projects are back. This week included a purging of stuff we haven't touched in years (decades in some cases). A lot was tossed and some was discovered. This abacus sat on my Dad's den shelf for long enough that I don't recall where it came from or the story behind it. The abacus itself is obviously hand made and very old. Some research on the book lists the original publishing date as 1922. Finding it was a joy and I may spend some time learning the basics while avoiding the section on calculating square roots. It has to be easier than trying to use Common Core to figure out where the two trains from different cities will collide If one is travelling at 30 meters per second and the other is poking along at 100,000 furlongs per fortnight.

Only had a short day out in the wetlands on Saturday - ran out for the afternoon for an hour or two before a rain front was passing through.  But there's always something to shoot, even on a short walk:

A red-bellied woodpecker hanging on a dangling dead palm frond:

A young raccoon, quite curious about me:
