Oct 4th Grand Princess to Cabo

Hello fellow cruise critic members.  We boarded the wonderful Grand Princess today for a  five night sailing. I will post my impression of boarding and our cabin and staff

1.  We arrived at 11:30. We were greeted by several Princess staff members who directed us to a staion for processing. Total time was five minutes

2.  We are in a Window Suite F305. We received priority passes to board. We went up the escalator and right onto the ship. Time to board was five minutes. We had to wait untill noon for club class dining to open for lunch

3.  I went to Sanctuary to reserve a few days for my wife and I. That took five minutes

4.  While we ate lunch the head waiter came over to tell us to make sure we went to Crown Grill tonight for our complimentary Dinner.  We did not think we would receive a complimentary dinner but we did. So that was nice

5. Set up two iphone and ipads for the wifi.  So far no issues with wifi

6. Watched the safety video while i ate lunch. We found out our muster station was Crown Grill so we showed our medallions and then made dinner reservations

7. It does not feel crowded at all. I have  not seen a lot of people at the pools or in the bars. At one trivia contest there were only four couples. The staff everywhere have been so friendly and talkative.   I will post more during our five night cruise

our window suite is nice. It is down a separate hallway located next to the casino on deck six.  Club Class dining in Davinci is a minite away. We had both appetizers and flowere in our room. This is our first time in a window suite so we will see if we miss the balcony.

cheers

@AF-1 Thanks for posting! I'd like to hear about your suite experience during these COVID times. Three more weeks for us! We will be in Cabin L302 for a B2B. Interesting about the embarkation night specialty dining. As you know, we have been reading differing opinions on this matter.  I am glad you got it!  I went ahead and purchased anyway, just in case... Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks…good to know they’re back to the standard setup. 👍

Early cruises on Majestic had supply issues that limited choices & hoping supplies will be like on Grand when we board Majestic in a couple of weeks.

Currently on Grand and was on last sailing. Asked for Sprite Zero for minibar swap and was told not available, did not check if they were getting any today in LA.

You can have my two cans of regular sprite. I won’t drink them

@AF-1 I am 99% sure you will not miss your balcony and will be spoiled by being in a Window Suite.  It is all location, location, location.

I will admit, that having thermal suite access would have been a nice addition.

Congrats on getting a Crown Grill dinner for your short cruise.  In the past, it has not been so.

Keep the second mini bar tray (if you are Elite).  It will come in very handy when you visit the IC a deck below.

Who is your steward?  Who is the head waiter in CC?

Thanks for doing a "live".

Hi @AF-1, thank you offering up your regular Sprite, do you know you can swap out any non alcohol items for like, same with alcohol items, so if you do not like sprite you can exchange for cokes or any other non alcohol items, same with alcohol, change to all beers or all vodka or any combo you like , alcohol can also be traded for non alcohol items, but non alcohol only trades for another non alcohol item.

Great to hear! I'm in a WS on the Grand in 2 weeks. My Husband always loved the extra room and the perks. Can't wait!

Thank you for sharing.

Have a great cruise! I take it everyone still has to wear a mask everywhere indoors unless you have actually sat down to eat or are actively drinking a beverage at a lounge?

Yes safety protocols are pretty good. Passengers are adhering to them

Location is excellent for these cabins. I love it. Our cabin steward is John. I forget the head waiters name. I will find out. He played a joke on me at lunch in club class and then followed us into crown grill tonight. I will get his name for you tomorrow

This is a nice roomy cabin. Quiet area and so close to everything. This may be my first cruise where I don’t eat in horizon court.

Nice! Are you Air Force? Just curious due to your callsign.  I'm retired AF.

No Chocolates, assume this is the new policy going forward for all ships going online.

Assume a number of passengers also forgoing turndown service too.

Did not see special Norman Love pastries/muffins at International cafe, will try to remember if these have been discontinued.
