Wanted to post few notes about our experience so far and maybe others on cruise will do so as well.  I have received valuable info in past and want to let others know what to expect

Boarding - we had to return car rental by 11am as that’s when Avis closed on Saturday….went to port and able to drop luggage but told they would be closed till 1:30pm and take free shuttle to town and return later….sent to a tour bus which sent us back and another person got correct shuttle….there was some confusion but everyone was very polite and we were a few hours early so to be understood.

Returned a couple hours later and things went pretty smooth…for expedited boarding register TrustOne that Azamara sends a week or so prior else they will help you register there but was slight wait for those

we had QR code from TrustOne and sent right to antigen test which takes less tha 1 minute and then checkin and to boarding area to wait for results which you can get on phone….a little later after results we were brought onboard where some one to our carryon luggage and escorted us to safety which was very short…our escort waited for us and took us to cabin where keys were waiting

Overall not bad for 1st time in Civiavecchia this season for Azamara

Note: lot of talk about ship tours which is out of Azamara’s control but passenger can go on own in 🇭🇷 Croatia

Onboard first day… I think Azamara crew have built in facial recognition as most seem to always know your name after meeting once even with face mask

Had cocktails in PrimeC before dinner and had plenty of fevertree available…great bartender Booshwan(sp) and awesome waiter Vishal and excellent dinner in PrimeC and as mentioned before presentation has been elevated

We had Vishal last night too in Prime C who was great.   You weren't the couple at around 9.30 who were sung Happy Birthday to were you?

NB.  There are 2 Vishal's, who describe themselves as tall and short 😂

We've just had the destination Caruso evening with 2 tenors and a soprano which was very well attended.   They were really good but we can imagine how much better they would have been outside with an Italian backdrop rather than in a show lounge, but in these times, we must expect changes.

Chilling now in the Living room with a drink before bed.  All very nice.

Yes tall and short Vishal…the tall Vishal has been taking special care of us.  Not birthday couple.

just noticed date in title is wrong at least for now maybe we’ll be back in a couple years.  Will blame on the wine.

Sorrento last night

Almalfi today

Not New York

  • Host Jazzbeau changed the title to Onboard Quest 10/9/21 updates

I noticed it too and was going to ask you if COVID was a thing of the past!  Then I decided to crawl back into my box and not to be cheeky!  As usual Jazzbeau is on the ball and corrected it.

Thank you so much for your posts and pictures.  This means a lot to an Azamara newbie.

Thanks for the fix Jazzbeau.  I noticed title was fixed and thought maybe the wine made me see 2023 and had it right all the time…lol

Went to French Chef’s Table last night which was held in Aqualina at separate tables for each party.  Was a total of 14 - 16 persons at 5 -6 tables.  Service and food were excellent.  A few pictures.  Missed taking pictures of some of the courses.  Wine?

Lobster Salad - impressed that they use Maine lobster

Quenelle De Volaille

Line Caught Mediterranean Sea Bass

Fondant Au Citron

Thanks for posting about this. I was wondering how they were going to do the Chef’s Table. Can’t wait to attend another one!

I usually go to all of the chef's tables while cruising. I travel solo, so this is distressing news for me. Sitting alone at a table in Aqualina to participate does not sound like a lot of fun.

Unfortunately as long as there are distancing requirements onboard, there is not really an alternative - at least they have managed to get something up and running.  Hopefully by the time of your next cruise the distancing rules have been relaxed

Fevertree - yes!!!!!!

If someone is going to be drinking it all by the time we get there (which sounds unlikely) I have a plan B organised with a friend who is on the ship now and will be with us 4th November. More than one way to skin a cat as they say!

That looks marvelous! Do they offer an alternative vegetarian menu at the Chef's Table?

Just let them know and they will adjust any or all courses for your needs.  One in our party needed gluten free and cannot eat shellfish.  Azamara made necessary adjustments and dishes were exceptional as well.  We did seafood lunch today and they adjusted all courses except for 1.  Enjoy!

Phil

My plan B was to do a bit of shopping in Barcelona and bring tins of Fever Tree or Schweppes on board.

Depending on supplies I may possibly do a top up shop in one of the stops.

Hopefully you will get the info from your friend and make us all happy!!

Azamara have always been excellent at ensuring food safety as far as allergies are concerned.

I am allergic to shellfish & crustacea and they look after me very well! 🤩

The idea seems sad.part of the reason is to meet people.

Agree, but they cannot allow socialising on that level yet.  As soon as they can, they will.
