You pics and comments are now really getting me excited as though I wasn’t.

Then I read that you are in the same SS 6124 that we hopefully will be in on  the Summit in a few weeks for a B2B and that added to it.

Thanks for taking your time for posting

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🌅🇺🇸

Just a quick update: for those of you still planning your first cruise back, I strongly recommend taking time to go to the Sunset Bar after sail away and just sit for a while and watch the beautiful wake and the land shrinking behind you.  It’s always been a powerful experience for me, but it’s even more emotional today.

See you Monday, America!

Have a fantastic time!  I’m following along on your journey…Hubby and I are on the Summit one week from Saturday and we cannot wait!! It’s a quick 3-night cruise but it will feel fantastic to be back on board!! Can’t wait for a martini!!

Good morning CC!  I forgot how much I love waking up to this view.  While I’m sitting here treating last night’s martini-induced headache with some water and sea air, let’s talk about my sky suite.

As I said before, for the most part I really like the refreshed cabin. There’s finally an outlet for bedside phone charging and it seems like there’s far more lighting in the room. The last M class ship I was on was Infinity at Christmas in 2018 and she was really showing her age. Compared to that, post-facelift Summit looks 30 years younger.

There are a few things I’m less than thrilled about (in reverse order of importance):

-The new safes are really small.  My iPad barely fits in.  If you travel with a laptop for work emergencies it probably won’t fit in the safe at all.  I usually put my high end purses and shoes in the safe too, but that’s not happening either. I’m kind of baffled by the decision to down size it because as you can see the shelf is still plenty big enough to hold a full size safe.  I’ve never had an issue with theft in all my cruises so I’m not overly worried about it, but the peace of mind was nice.

-It seems like there’s less closet, shelf and drawer space.  Not a huge issue for me on a solo cruise, but I’m already thinking about how I’m going to have to massage the conversation with hubby about needing to upgrade to sailing in Celebrity Suites on refurbed ships because I need more space for my clothes and shoes if he insists on bringing apparel too.

-Call me vain if you must, but this is the biggest issue for me…as far as I can find there is NO full body mirror in the room.  The big circle one over the desk cuts me off at the ankles and I hate the idea of getting all the way down the hall to the reflective glass by the elevators only to realize my shoes don’t actually work with my dinner dress.  I think I read somewhere that in Edge class a full body mirror pulls out from somewhere beside the desk, and I looked everywhere to see if that’s the case in my room, but no luck.

My cruise next month is on Equinox which I understand got the lite beer version of the refurb. Does anyone know if those staterooms still have a full body mirror in them?  The thought of 10 days without one is triggering my anxiety.  Like last night before bed I was seriously searching Amazon for “travel folding full body mirror” like that’s actually a thing it’s possible to make (or practical to fly with).  I blame the martinis.

Last night I ordered a room service breakfast to be delivered at 9am, so I think I’ll go grab a coffee from al bacio and then run myself a bubble bath and soak my sore muscles for a bit before breakfast.  Possibly TMI, but thanks to COVID it’s been a long time since I spent my evening out on a dance floor and I’m feeling it in ALLLL in my glutes this morning. I guess I’m getting to an age where I can’t twerk like I used to.

Today is going to be a busy first full day onboard.  We have a captain’s club welcome event, a food and wine pairing class (included with my purchase of the drinks & more package, more on that later), a live music event in the retreat and Connie was nice enough to get me an appointment with future cruises this afternoon.  Yes, I’m less than 24 hours onboard and have another cruise next month but I’m already buying more…What can I say? I hear Beyond whispering my name. Pricey little addiction, this.

Stay tuned for posts about sail away, yesterday’s great meals in Luminae and Red and I’s late night exploits (casino for her, sky lounge and martini bar for me).

Happy Friday from the Caribbean Sea! (It is Friday, right?)

Have you tried any of the Bigelow products? Like? Dislike? I know it's subjective... trying to decide if I can bring less of my own in 27 days.

Happy to see the hand sanitizer. I won't pack more than needed for travel to/from ship.

Ive only used them once but the shampoo and conditioner don’t seem like they’re going to be a good fit for my hair. I’m glad I brought my own.  My hair is bleached and tends to get really dry in the sun so I think I need the extra moisture from my products.  The body wash and lotion seem pretty good though.

.

Thanks, GenX, for what you are doing in this thread.  Keep enjoying yourself immensely!

We have a question for you or anyone else that has cruised on the Summit in 2021:

Can a guest order cappuccino in Luminae, Blu, and the MDR?

If so, is it brought in from Cafe Al Bacio, or is it made in the dining room's own bar?

Thanks, in advance.

Love CO Bigelow.. we use it at home.  But only the shower gel  soap and body cream.  I bring my own hair products made by ENJOY!  And oils.... Even so..very difficult to overcome frizzy  cruise hair

Hola from Cozumel Everyone!

I apologize for the posting delay. I had wifi struggles at sea yesterday.  I’m not going into port today though, so I have plenty of time to catch up.

It’s 9am and I LITERALLY have the pool deck all to myself (see photo proof).  Hubby and I always joked if we ever hit one of those uber massive powerball jackpots, we’d charter a Celebrity ship for a few months and just sail around with our closest friends and family. I’m starting to get an idea of what that would be like.

This morning Red and I got up early to go check out the Retreat sun deck before the sun hit it and it got too hot.  It was already too muggy for the hot tub (that space REALLY needs a splash pool), so we came back down to the main pool deck for a pre-breakfast swim.

Red decided to have room service so I went solo to Luminae for some eggs Benedict and a warm Nutella croissant (BLISS).   I exercised the restraint I couldn’t muster yesterday (more on that in the next post) and didn’t eat the full meal because Red and I have a lunch reservation at Sushi on 5 today and dinner tonight in Tuscan Grille. BTW, I’ve officially set a new record for reaching the “loose, flowing dresses only” portion of my cruise wardrobe, 55 hours in and I totally tore my spanx last night. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Stay tuned for more!

Thank you! I’m not sure about Blu or MDR but I’ve ordered cappuccino in Luminae. I think they have their own espresso machine in the dinning room.

My biggest complaint on the cruise so far: the spitting rain cloud that’s settled over the pool deck is KILLING my mango tango buzz. Completely unacceptable. I’m sure I have all of your deepest sympathies for my tragic plight.

Let’s talk about my first full day yesterday…

Fun Fact: Apparently, when you’ve been deprived of cruise life for a year and a half, there’s a high risk that on your first full day back you will lose your mind and eat and drink all the things. All at once.

Yesterday morning after breakfast I spent a few hours at the pool swimming and drinking beer and French Caribbeans.   Then I went down to the stateroom to shower and have lunch in Luminae.  I couldn’t decide between frisée salad or parsnip soup so I decided to have both.  Then indulged in the ridiculously good Luminae Burger (made with ground filet mignon and topped with bacon and onion jelly) with truffle fries.

As I was finishing lunch, Red messaged me and said she was just sitting down to lunch in Sushi on 5.  My plan was to just join her for a Kanpai cocktail.  Then when I sat down, I saw she was just digging into a bowl of the pork ramen…

For the uninitiated, I am a firm believer that the pork ramen is one of the best dishes in all of Celebrity Cruises.  Hands down.  In fact I have yet to book an Edge-class ship because I refuse to pay thousands more for a cruise that doesn’t have the pork ramen on it.

I couldn’t just sit there and watch Red partake in that epic deliciousness and not have any!  So I waved for our server Ria and had my own bowl in front of me in minutes.  After stuffing myself with all that ramen, the thought of a food & wine pairing workshop (at that point, food generally) couldn’t have been less appealing so I decided to skip it for a nap instead.

Post-nap, I went to the retreat lounge for my appointment with future cruises and booked hubby and I an Eclipse Alaska sailing for next summer. (See? I told you I’d bring him back something nice.)

I swear every time I go into the retreat lounge there’s some form of deliciousness set out.  When I arrived for my appointment it was afternoon tea with scones, tiny sandwiches and desserts.  By the time I left (after celebrating a new cruise booking with 3 glasses of Chandon) they had set out happy hour munchies.

Since I still had a food baby from lunch, I passed on the snacks and ran back to my room before I changed my mind.

Then it was time for evening chic night dinner in Luminae, martini bar and silent disco. Details on the evening to come!

No need to apologize for the WiFi struggles.  I've been there.

As far as sailing with limited crowds, welcome to the Summit in late 2021!  I'd love to be able to experience it again, but I fear it's going to be back to normal by the time I can find a suitable window.

I like your style!  Keep us updated!
