Hello, thinking of booking last minute med. Rome 10/20

Unsure of participating in the limited and overpriced excursions for italy.

Is there much activity planned on board while in italian ports?

Since getting chilly; are the pools nicely heated?? live music at pool area in port?

Any previous experience with 7 day med and/or daily's would be great!

Thank you!

We’ve done the Epic 7 day trip a few times and have often stayed onboard as we’ve visited most of the ports multiple times.

We’ve always found plenty to do. The pools are open during the day and it’s a good opportunity to use the slide without huge queues.

No live music at the pools during the day, and if you are looking to be entertained then you are likely to be disappointed, but if you can make your own entertainment then it’s a great way to spend a lazy day.

while they may  be overpriced (which is a major understatement) unless youve already been there, going to italy and not going to rome is a major mistake.

the port is about 45 minutes away, and if italy has lifted its tourist restrictions, hire  a cab or private driver. we've done that twice, and  they have taken us wherever  in rome we wanted to go. if you stay on board, i think you're doing yourself a tremendous disservice!

we did the same in florence

Thanks for the replies; been to italy before; so ok missing shore excursions. Prefer italy independently, maybe do one excursion.

Was the pools heated?  Looks like coolish weather...

Are most epic restaurants open for lunch on port days?

Thanks, any recent cruisers that have first hand experience??

So, are you saying we don't have to take ship excursions now?  If so, where did you find this information?  Thanks

no, im not saying that at all. im merely stating that IF italy  has changed its requirements, then you can hire a cab and not be limited to the ncl shore excursions. i have however, no 1st hand knowledge if or when italy has done so. sorry of you misunderstood my post

On Epic just now. There are activities but whether you want to do them or not is an entirely different matter. Plenty of sun beds as it is port intense. If there's none, head up to deck 18  front of ship to a smaller sun bathing section.

You could also purchase for the posh club, private area for haven and a few non haven guests.

Also you could  buy a spa pass for the thermal suite.

Here are the dailies below
