Recommended Posts

I just joined the site today. I click on my upcoming cruise in the roll call section and it will not let me view anything. Just says Oops, you are not authorized to view this. Any thoughts about how to fix this issue? Thank you

Howdy @r2h2 and welcome to the Cruise Critic message boards!  emo22.gifSee the Cruise Critic article Top 8 Things You Can Do on the Cruise Critic Message Boards to Enhance Your Cruise.

It appears you may not have been logged in with your user name & password. However, I see you were able to post on your Celebrity Edge December 12, 2021 7 Night Puerto Rico, St. Thomas & St. Maarten Roll Call thread as post #50 at 3:46 PM today.

Cruise Critic is a great resource for new as well as experienced cruisers and we are so glad you are posting on the boards! emo34.gif  Please feel free to browse the Cruise Critic Community Categories list. Read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in a forum. You will find very important instructions or information there.

Please be sure to use the Follow feature on threads where you are interested in the replies. You won't have to go l👀king to see if there are new posts because they will come l👀king for you as notifications! emo34.gif For more info please see How to: Follow Topics & Forums (Subscribed Threads/Forums Info) and How To: Change Email Settings/Unsubscribe: Notification Settings.

And don't forget, after your cruise be sure to submit your review for publication. Many cruisers will benefit from your experience! emo49.gif See How To: Submit a Member Review.

I have been putting info into Reply to post when I wanted to post something new. My posts are not showing up? How long does it take for everyone to receive my post and will it be emailed to myself.

Note the following from the Guidelines:

Posts Appear Immediately
We do not review messages before they are posted and you cannot delete your own messages once they are posted. As much as we'd like to, our volunteer staff is too busy to delete messages for you, extend spell-check services or rescue you from a momentary lapse in good judgment! ? If you don't see your message after posting it, close your browser or click your "refresh" to see your posting. You'll see it -- and so will everyone else!

However, at this time there are numerous issues regarding the board software. Note the following in the red bar above on all pages concerning one of them:

Also note at this time there are numerous existing threads on this Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum concerning various ongoing software issues. One of the issues is posts not appearing as you have experienced. Here are some of the existing threads:

Website Trouble ???

Like button doesn't work

Can't post to CC web site the last two days--replies or quotes/replies--what's up

iPad problems anyone?
Inability to react to posts and more

not staying logged in

Is Cruise Critic Down!

CC Help Jenn, Senior Community Support Specialist, the IT team as well as the software developer are working as best they can. Please have patience. See her post # 439 for her last update.

Regarding the notification of posts,  you will receive notifications from threads where you have activated the Follow feature only when someone else posts on the thread. Your own posts do not activate a notification to you.

When your message appears on any thread where other members have activated the thread's Follow feature, they will receive a notification of your post based on the method they have chosen from the following screen:

Hello Host Kat.  And a happy new year to you, plus all CC members.

This is a question, rather than a reply - so I do hope that YOU WILL SEE IT….?   I have forgotten how to JOIN A ROLL CALL.  I have in the past joined, as you will probably be able to see.  Either the instructions have changed, or, more likely, my aged brain isn’t switching into gear like it used to. 🙄😏   Could you please help?  Many thanks.  Sylvia (aka Tilly)

Now, I’m really muddled - sorry.   This is a question for Host Kat.  Please see my question, above, which shows as a ‘reply’ to Post No.1.

The Roll Call  I’m trying to join is 2nd May, maiden voyage of Azamara Onward.  As I said, I have joined RCs before - just seem rather dim at the start of a new year.  Please help.

Many thanks,  Sylvia  (TillyTheGreat)

@TillyTheGreat

Thanks Sylvia for the happy new year thoughts! emo34.gif Sorry, but I have been away from the boards a bit due to some longstanding chronic health problems.

To "join" an existing Roll Call thread, make sure you are logged in to the Cruise Critic boards. Next find & read the whole thread to get to know your fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you. You can see if any activities are being planned. Then post an introductory post about yourself. If you want to address a particular post already in the thread, be sure to use the Quote feature on the post so all will be aware of what your post concerns.

For information about our famous Roll Calls, please read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and How To: Create A New Roll Call. For even more information please read the Roll Calls and Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls sections in the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships.

Be sure to activate the Follow feature on any thread where you are interested in future replies. You will not have to go l👀king to see if there are new posts on Followed threads because they will come l👀king for you as notifications! emo34.gif If you need more info on how to do it, please see How to: Follow Topics & Forums (Subscribed Threads/Forums Info).

Hope this will be helpful and glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! emo35.gif

How do I turn off the automatic spellcheck (auto change spelling) feature when typing a reply? Words have been automatically changed up to three times after i changed them back to what I wanted.

Diana

That isn’t part of Cruise Critic. It is your computer, tablet or phone that is auto-correcting. You have to turn it off there.

It is turned off in MS Word and Excel. I only have this happen with CC.

Not knowing the device, operating system, or browser used it's not possible to answer the question.

MacBook Pro, Monterey 12.7.3, Safari. However, I never have spell check automatically change text as I type on any online or offline situation--just CC.

I think the auto spellcheck in Safari got turned back on--perhaps through an update. I had it turned off.

Still odd that it only became a problem with Cc.

Hopefully, this fixes the problem.

Yep, if spellcheck is turned on in Safari then Safari will spellcheck. By the way MacOS is currently on version 14.3  Perhaps your MacBook does not support older versions? Security updates are still issued though for some older versions. There was a security update 5 days ago to for MacOS 12 to 12.7.3 for those who are using an older version. Very good that you updated. Possibly that icould be when it got turned back on but spell check is not turned on by default in Safari so that is not what is supposed to happen.

Thank you for the security update suggestion. I just updated a few days ago. I checked again for updates just now. My Mac says it is up-to-date and I can't upgrade to a newer OS. It wasn't the newest model available at the time. I preferred the ports offered on this model of MacBook over the newer version and so now need to decide when to bite the bullet and get a new Mac. Love this Mac and it hasn't given me a lick of trouble....unlike the replace-every-two years HP laptops (and awful Windows) I've had in the past.

The spellcheck on Safari was the culprit. Don't know what turned it back on recently, because I always set preferences to suggest--not change spelling. But, thanks to you on this forum, the problem is resolved.

Thank you. Diana
