SevenSeas1492 Posted October 19, 2021 #26 Share Posted October 19, 2021 Thank you! Just added it to my card. We may not be ready to cruise by the expiration date, but we can put a $500 deposit on a future cruise and get the credit.

(60% 😞 ) 70% if i use it to pay for most gift cards or use points for most stores that accept Amex points instead of cash/credit card. hm.. home depot gift card is $100 for 10k points. (100%) This is a case study in how to minimize the value of Amex Membership Rewards points. Don't ever use these points in the manner described above. Every time I've redeemed points, it's been for AT LEAST 1.5 cents per point. Most often this has been with transfers to Delta, British Airways, or Air France. If you want to simply cash them out, get a Charles Schwab Amex Platinum and deposit your points into Schwab for 1.1 cents per point. Still better than the redemption methods described in the quoted post.
Cruise Gopher Posted October 19, 2021 #30 Share Posted October 19, 2021 I got the offer on my AMEX Platinum. Thanks for the tip on the OBC. How do you make sure that the OBC is refundable? Does it say that somewhere?

ExArkie Posted October 19, 2021 #34 Share Posted October 19, 2021 Interesting reading through the variations on the offer. I have a platinum AmEx card and received the cruise line offers for Celebrity (spend $500, get $150 back) Royal Caribbean (spend $500, get $200 back) Silversea (additional 5 membership rewards points per dollar spent) Did not get the one for Oceania someone mentioned above. Since we actually have a booking on them with final payment due before the offer expires, maybe they didn't see the need to offer us an incentive to spend more. Of the three (well, four counting Oceania), the only one we have previously sailed with is Celebrity.

You can simply purchase $500 worth of OBC using the Amex card with the offer. You don't even need to spend any of the OBC while on board. Just cash out on the last day of your cruise. 3

Also worth a mention is $125 off $300 on Delta Airlines...along with numerous hotel offers.
