Vaca2006 Posted February 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2006 New to cruising, new to CC... Will be sailing with wife, son (11), and daughter (6). I'm looking at possible excursions and wondering whether it is an option to leave one or both kids on board. Thanks, Lee
Cruisin' Chick Posted February 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2006 Many of them do. Have you booked your cruise yet and which line? I know carnival and Princess both have free in-port kidsitting. You do need to sign up 24 hrs prior for these lines and check their hours for this service before signing up for your excursions. I_Live_2_Cruise Posted February 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2006 On Carnival Cruise lines you have the option of taking or leaving your kids on or off the boat. Both are done often, and if your 11 year old wants to explore with you for a part of the day you could just take him and leave your daughter onboard. Either way you can't lose. Happy cruising! bld16 Posted February 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2006 RCCL Adventure Ocean does stay open during port days as well. I left my 10yo on board one day and she had a blast.
Cruisin' Cat Lover Posted February 21, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 21, 2006 Disney stays open while in port. They also have a kids club on the private island. No swimming while at the kids club. My kids loved it. The club stays open from 9:00 in the morning until midnight and sometimes one in the morning. My 7 year old insisted on closing the camp everynight. I came home exhausted. Cruisin' Cat Lover Posted March 3, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 3, 2006 No charge for anything on the Disney. Clubs stayed open all day from 9:00 to 12:00 am and sometimes 1:00am. They did not close down during the day like some of the other kids clubs. They took them to lunch and dinner, however, the did not take them to the shows. Thanks, Lee Aboard Celebrity, you can leave your kids in the children's program while you are ashore. There is no charge except from noon - 2pm on port days where there is a $6/hr charge (3-12 yr old kids).
adamsmom Posted March 8, 2006 #11 Share Posted March 8, 2006 Yep--Norwegian charges, I think, $5 per hour per child on port days. But your kids are about the same age as mine, and we've never felt inclined to do shore excursions that they wouldn't enjoy.
Cruisin' Chick Posted March 8, 2006 #12 Share Posted March 8, 2006 Princess and Carnival do not charge for the kids program, except for post 10-pm kidsitting ($5/hr). On our last cruise, there were a couple of times the fee was waived (such as New Years Eve). You do have to sign up prior to any port day or post-10pm kidsitting. The kids can watch movies, play PSII. There may be some limited activities. If during a meal time, the kids will be taken to the casual dining rooms.
