excited balcony Posted November 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2021 We will be trying the Tamarind restaurant for the first time on the Koningsdam next month. I have a couple of questions I am hoping you can help with. First, are we able to order more than one appetizer without an additional charge? And, is it the same menu every night or does the menu change like the MDR menu nightly? If it is a different menu nightly, is there somewhere I can view it to try to pick the night we might like the best? Thank you!!
Cruising-along Posted November 21, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2021 You can order as many appetizers as you want, no extra charge for that. The menu is the same every night. We love the Tamarind. Enjoy your cruise!

sailingdutchy Posted November 21, 2021 #6 Share Posted November 21, 2021 On our Eurodam cruise in October this year we went to the Tamarind about 7 or 8 times as it has been our favourite specialty restaurant for a while. There are 2 different menues , the Tamarind (set price ) and the Nami Sushi ( a la card ) and there are enough items on the menu to have something different for many visits , and you should try different things they will happily surprise you . As far as appetizers is concerned one evening I even had 4 different appetizers and no main , wonderful . We have always loved the service at the Tamarind mostly all the ladies are from Indonesia and Thailand , we also enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant itself . I tried to add a few pictures to give you an idea but it did not work tonight on CC . maybe later on ...... Tony 😄 6

The steak is a Wasabi crusted Beef Tenderloin and we love it, IMHO much better than any steak in the Pinnacle Grill.. brainy blonde Posted November 21, 2021 #11 Share Posted November 21, 2021 The Tamarind was closed during the Eurodam crossing because of staffing issues. Then came closings for lunches in the Pinnacle Grill. I would caution anyone traveling HAL in the next few months that life is not as usual on the ship. The ship "ran out" of bedtime chocolates immediately. (How does this happen, they are not perishable.) However, the cabin crews took such pride in the towel animals, I shudder to think in the future this will be an upcharge also. We had no Mariner Lunch or ceremony, our five star pin was in our mailbox. No sail away parties, the ship was dead except for the casino. (Free cruises I am told.) Thank heavens for Lincoln Center, they were fabulous!

Thank heavens for Lincoln Center, they were fabulous! You are not wrong. Shortages are a problem. In the Dutch cafe they didn’t have any of the snacks and at least one of the meals. Very little Clamato onboard for Bloody Caesars. Thankfully no restaurant closures on the koningsdam.

Rare roxybear135 Posted November 21, 2021 #19 Share Posted November 21, 2021 I highly recommend getting the crispy duck with udon noodles as your entree. We had that on our Alaska cruise and it was amazing. We will be back at Tamarind on our cruise next month and can't wait for it! 2
