VacationCharlene Posted November 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2021 Good day everyone. I have been watching, on this site, to see if anyone knows of any special perks or opportunities coming up for Black Friday or Cyber Monday Sales with Holland America. I am surprised no one has mentioned anything (unless I have just not seen it). Discounted shore excursions maybe, gratuities included, drink package added, FREE something lol Thanks in advance for any information. Those travel agents always seem to be in the know early. Have a great Thanksgiving :-)
Rare Mary229 Posted November 21, 2021 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2021 I was looking around Charlene. I saw one British agency, sorry I don't remember who, mention an extended Have it All with gratuities and a $99 deposit. I have no idea if that will actually be the sale. I think it is being kept under wraps until Tuesday. Here's hoping for something that offers something to everyone, those who are booked and those who are wanting to book.

AtlantaCruiser72 Posted November 21, 2021 #4 Share Posted November 21, 2021 (edited) HAL Black Friday/Cyber week offer is Pre-paid gratuities and reduced $99pp deposit. Does not combine with all fares or sailings. For new bookings only, so existing reservations would have to be cancelled/rebooked at prevailing rates. Select agencies have it as a preview offer now prior to going national - it runs through Tuesday 11/30 Edited November 21, 2021 by AtlantaCruiser72 2

mcrcruiser Posted November 21, 2021 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2021 So if we are already booked ,we can't add a package that includes the tips ,drinks , wifi ie ? Is that true ?

Any hotel, transfers or airfare through HAL will have to be rebooked as well. Ancillary items you pre-purchased will be cancelled and the CC refunded and you will need to re-book them under the new reservation #. The only thing that carries over to the new reservation are any deposit monies/FCC/FCD you have on the existing reservation.

Just seems to me that HAL is using the cancel & rebook to gain a higher cruise price . That being the case it is not worth the perks . Thus ,imo HAL looses the extra monies that people would be willing to pay into the new perk package . Also seems to me that Princess makes it a whole lot easier to do business ;as I have added their plus package of perks to 2 existing cruises .Then perhaps we may be better off booking all future cruises with Princess .Yet it is difficult to understand is that we were able Club Orange to a 18 Night Hawaii Cruise with out cancelling & rebooking . Thus ,in effect HAL allows one perk tp be added but then not another perk . Doesn't that seem to be a strange way of doing business ?

I think the reason might be is that Club Orange was designed to be an upsell package from the start. Just my opinion.
AtlantaCruiser72 Posted November 21, 2021 #12 Share Posted November 21, 2021 Club Orange is an ancillary product - like Cabanas, Spa passes, Specialty dining, Shore excursions, etc. It is purchased as an add-on after booking and is not part of the cruise reservation itself. "Have it All" is a bundled fare/pricing option that includes several items normally purchased separately. Unlike Princess+ it is not a straightforward "x" $/day/pp above the Saver Fare. There are numerous fare codes that Princess offers that are NOT combinable with Princess+ and some that are. Have it All is similar in that it is not offered with many promotional fares (private sale, casino comps, non-refundable deposit fares, etc). The Black Friday Sale is a limited time promotional pricing offer, and like all such offers, is designed to spur NEW bookings during the offer period. It is not an add-on "perk" and the booking has to be refared to get it. It combines with some, but not all other, fare driven offers. Corporate management has structured pricing/promotions in a way that they feel best matches the consumer buying habits of their clients for each brand, and to maximize revenue. The fact that Princess+ and Have it All have different inclusions and a different pricing methodology speaks to that difference in consumer base. If both brands consumers had similar purchasing habits then both brands would structure their bundled pricing offering the same. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are similar - Royal is 100% à la carte while Celebrity is focused on tiered pricing bundles. 2

NRD bookings allow absolutely ZERO changes, except within the NRD fare code itself to a different category. No switching to a different fare offering or promotion without full forfeiture of deposit. glorialagos Posted November 22, 2021 #15 Share Posted November 22, 2021 Now that I know "when", could someone help with the "how"? My friend and I are planning to book a February cruise on Rotterdam and are happy to see the Black Friday sale. Now - where do we find this? Do we book directly with HAL? We normally use ***** or similar sites. Do we need to book with a travel agent? Thanks for any tips. I'm ready to be booked and then can start planning our trip! DaveOKC Posted November 22, 2021 #16 Share Posted November 22, 2021 I just rechecked our March cruise and it would cost us $130 pp MORE to use the new Black Friday promotion (over what we booked 6 months ago), so be careful in rebooking.

DaveOKC Posted November 22, 2021 #18 Share Posted November 22, 2021 I used the current HAL prices, which I figured would not go DOWN with the Black Friday sale (since they are giving you the free grats. But I could be wrong and will recheck later in the day.

Rare FlaMariner Posted November 22, 2021 #20 Share Posted November 22, 2021 The HAL Black Friday deals with the $99 deposit and the free tips are live now at the TA that I use.....(I get in big trouble on here if I say the name). From my research on a few cruises we have been tracking, the price of the cruise has stayed the same and the "free" tips make it more attractive.....For us, the $99 deposit is no big deal as we have a FCD....of course, YMMV
mcrcruiser Posted November 22, 2021 #21 Share Posted November 22, 2021 Hmm in about 12 hours HALs Black Friday sale starts ,Nov 23rd . We will see what prices they offer vs what we already have booked with our TA . If we see lower costs we will cancel & rebook ;as we have cancerable deposits

Our 18 night Hawaii booking ,the gratuities are about $540 & we had added Club Orange at $540 tp go from a VH to a VA handicap . This black Friday sale would need to be a better deal than what we paid + the $1080 added .We will be doing the math tomorrow ; as well as getting the handicap cabin
