cartert Posted December 12, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2021 We have been to Nassau several times (pre-pandemic), but somehow never made it to the Famous Fish Fry. We hope to go in January. (Our only other destination is probably Graycliff for a cigar. Wiling to walk some, but not several miles). -Suggested transportation from the port? Taxi? Bus?-Any specific restaurants & dishes people have enjoyed since the reopening?
83tonio Posted December 12, 2021 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2021 Hello. I walked to the fish fry and graycliff. the fish fry is a much farther walk. If you are going to both places I recommend getting a taxi.
Team Stag Posted December 21, 2021 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2021 (edited) The Fish Fry is about 1.5 miles from Port. We typically walk to the Fry and then taxi back. We are normally quoted $6 / person or $18 for the car each way. After you clear the small downtown area it is a pretty walk with some nice water views. You will go by Junkaroo Beach as well. The Fish Fry is a marketplace of small restaurants. We have eaten at a couple and our favorite is called Drifters at Da' Fry. Very nice people and outstanding food. Here are some photos from our last visit: Photo 1: Creamy conch chowder, fried cracked conch, mac & cheese & fish fingers Photo 2: Tamarind Wings, fish fingers (and back side of mac & cheese / fried conch). We also had some guava bbq wings but ate them before photos. Edited December 21, 2021 by Team Stag 1

mets123 Posted January 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2022 The small buses are $1.50 each way. They run about every 15 minutes. And don't forget about the conch fritters.
Rare CruisinCrow Posted January 11, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2022 We usually take the bus there but if the weather is cool, we'll walk back. It's about a mile and a half. Graycliff is closer but uphill. Conch salad is great and I love peas and rice. For a real Bahamian drink, ask for Sky Juice. It's gin, coconut water and condensed milk. layteacher Posted January 29, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2022 where do you pick up the small bus? what does it look like? Just want to make sure I get on the right one since I will be with kids.
mets123 Posted January 30, 2022 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2022 Just ask a anyone in town. It a right once you get out of the port area. Then about 2 or three blocks. It's about 5 minutes once you leave the port construction area.
mets123 Posted January 30, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2022 And if you walk up the hill for about 1/2 from fish fry, you have Adrastra Gardens and Zoo with the marching flamingos.
Burrata Posted January 30, 2022 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2022 FYI, Adrastra Zoo is only open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. You need to book a time slot as well. https://ardastra.com/visitor-registration/

Just want to make sure I get on the right one since I will be with kids. You catch the bus at the corner of Bay Street and George Street. It's not far from the port. Ask anyone and they will point you the right way. You want the #10 bus. The buses are like large vans.
