gmkgks Posted December 20, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2021 We sail 12/23. All I can find says masks though 12/19. We did RC for Thanksgiving and specifically choose NCL for Christmas because of the no mask policy.
quillwercruisers Posted December 20, 2021 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2021 Unfortunately times keep changing. As of right now the mask policy was only for sailings through 12/19. Don't know what the future is going to be or what the policy will be. Just have to relax and enjoy it even if masks have to be worn. We cruise in 1/8, and there is the possibility that it will be extended, but I'm not going to let it ruin my cruise.

I'm sailing Joy January 15th and I totally expect the masking protocol will still be in place then. I'm not happy, but me and my people will persevere and have a great time! I started another thread trying to find out the particulars of this new masking rule from those that are currently sailing. Gotta roll with the punches..... kfnesq Posted December 20, 2021 #7 Share Posted December 20, 2021 Well, that's not surprising I guess. I haven't gotten that email yet (we sail Jan 18). Out of curiosity, do they give you any kind of option to cancel/change etc? I would expect not but since they are changing the rules pretty significantly, it would be nice if there was an option.
quillwercruisers Posted December 20, 2021 #8 Share Posted December 20, 2021 Here is the whole thing: December 20, 2021 Dear Valued Guests and Travel Partners, We cannot wait to welcome our loyal guests aboard for a vacation of a lifetime! In advance of our upcoming cruises, we want to ensure you are aware of our latest health and safety protocols and requirements. In order to provide the highest level of health and safety during your voyage, as of December 18th, 2021 all Norwegian Cruise Line vessels have implemented a mandatory masking policy for guests onboard with the following exceptions: · While indoors unless actively eating/drinking or seated at a table in a dining setting. · While outdoors when physical distancing cannot be achieved. · While in your stateroom. In addition, local regulations must be adhered to while in port . As part of our Sail Safe Health and Safety Program, all guests are required to be fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to departure and they must show proof of vaccination at the terminal in order to board the vessel. We encourage everyone to visit www.ncl.com/sail-safe for a list of vaccines accepted by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), including a recently updated list of vaccine combinations now accepted to sail aboard our fleet, following the latest U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance. In addition, while you will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival at the terminal pre-embarkation, we highly recommend that guests self-test at home prior to departure. The latest country-specific travel requirements can be found by visiting www.ncl.com/travel-requirements-by-country. This website has been designed to provide vital information regarding local restrictions, travel requirements and documents necessary for upcoming sailings. Please note, this website is updated regularly so we encourage you to visit often. Failure to comply with the above requirements will unfortunately result in denial of embarkation. Guests who are denied embarkation or reboarding for failure to comply with NCL’s COVID-19 Policies and Procedures will not be entitled to a refund or compensation. It’s gonna be a little tough to take a shower with a mask on.
Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted December 20, 2021 #11 Share Posted December 20, 2021 This is unfortunate for many but not unexpected. Once the face mask policy was implemented there was no way NCL would back peddle for cruises after this weekend. Reversing the policy would open up more liability. I believe Masks are here to stay on NCL until all Covid precautions are cancelled. I suspect that will be nearing 2023.

Or reword that second line completely to eliminate the double negative. FOllowing Exceptions: When physically distanced outdoors Someone at NCL should be reading carefully and slowly Edited December 20, 2021 by BermudaBound2014

SplashOfWater Posted December 20, 2021 #18 Share Posted December 20, 2021 We received an email for our 1/30 Encore cruise. NCL is dropping the at-home testing after 1/17 and is going back to embarkation tests. Masks will be required during the cruise. We're disappointed but don't plan on cancelling. We have almost $20K in NCL travel booked over then next 14 months. This is going to take me a week to cancel everything - cruises, flights, hotels. Ugh.
