grapau27 Posted January 5, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Good afternoon. It is 35°F but sunny here. Thank you for today's daily and fleet reports Rich. National bird day is important as we need to protect birds as many are in danger for various reasons. Keto day is important for people on diets. Nice food and drink today. We have been to Cherbourg on Harmony of the seas second sailing in May 2016. We also visited on Independence of the seas in May 2018. It is a nice port and a good base for tours to the Normandy beaches best known for D Day in WW2. Prayers for everyone on the care list. I wish everyone a lovely day. Rare kazu Posted January 5, 2022 #9 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Thanks for our Hump Day Daily, Rich 🙂 Lots of people here love watching birds including me. I’ll celebrate by cleaning their feeder and replenishing it. Screenwriters make so many movies and shows great. 👍 Love the Frank Zappa quote and ever so true! We have been to Cherbourg and Normandy. Great place and great people. I seem to remember posting pics in the past. I’ll take a look for some different ones later. @Mr. Bostona very happy birthday to your nephew, Nick. Anyone else hear the sound of things breaking? 😉 Hectic day here with some key errands before ice pellets & freezing rain comes down. Marley needs a different pill starting tomorrow. Trying not to feel overwhelmed between the dogs, messy house & talking to doctors about Jose. I didn’t make any resolutions other than to try to take each day one day at a time and not worry, but I think I’ve broken it already 😉 Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list. cat shepard Posted January 5, 2022 #10 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Thank you for today’s Daily, Rich! Quite the collection of days. If Keto has its own day, the Daily should get its own day! Thank you for our lists Roy! No wind here today, and the marine layer seems to be firmly entrenched. Off for an early class. Will check back. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone! ******* Daou 2018 Micho This Bordeaux-style red blend has high ratings from consumers and experts. A bit over my budget, but I would love to try a taste. I found a few online distributors with prices starting at $84.99. Wine Review: This medium purple colored Merlot based opens with a blueberry and black raspberry bouquet with hints of chocolate and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, balanced, smooth and round. The flavor profile is mild chalky minerality and blueberry blend with notes of black cherry. We also detected hints of integrated light oak and cocoa dust. The finish is dry and its fine-grained tannins drift away nicely. The Panel would pair this wine with filet mignon or a veal chop. Enjoy – KWGTP Winemaker Notes: The 2018 vintage marks our finest Estate Micho to date, advancing our signature marriage of two iconic Bordeaux varieties—Merlot and Cabernet. An opaque, purple-black color leads the way, followed by a mesmerizing, multilayered bouquet that bursts from the glass with abundant aromas of blue and black fruits. A full-bodied palate is enveloped by flavors of blueberry, blackberry, black currant and vanilla with hints of pencil shavings and chocolate-covered dark cherry. This wine is beautifully fresh and focused, all while showing a complex earthiness backed by mineral notes. The finish is long, lingering and unending—affirming this wine as a blockbuster that will reward careful cellaring for decades to come. 31 2
Seasick Sailor Posted January 5, 2022 #11 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Good morning Rich and fellow Daily-ites. Thank you for the Daily. Prayers already lifted up for Jose, Jacqui, Roy, and all on our care list. Raising a glass tonight to our celebrants. In Amber Cove, about to take a nice long walk on a beautiful day. I saw @AV8rix in Lido this morning and stopped to say hello. Looks like we are leaving early today, all aboard is at 1:30. We met a couple a few nights ago in Tamarind and invited them to join us tonight in Canelletto. So I'd better get my butt moving to work off some calories. Blessings and Cheers!
JAM37 Posted January 5, 2022 #12 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Good morning, Friends. Thank you for the Daily, the Lists and the Recipes. I love to watch birds. A salute to screenwriters. I do keto off and on, but never longer than three months at a time. I have been told by a few doctors, nutritionists and dietitians that three months is the absolute longest you should do keto and then follow it with at least as many months eating at least a few carbs. I have a friend who had been doing keto for about six months end up in the hospital for a couple of days Christmas week with pancreatitis. The doctors told him it was caused by prolonged keto and that he can't do keto at all ever again. So, be careful. I love the quote and the meal sounds good. There has been talk about going home tonight, but DH has several smaller projects he wants to get done for DMIL so we'll see. Have a great day. 🙏 and 🎉 for those on our lists. 29

aliaschief Posted January 5, 2022 #15 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Good morning. A cool 44F here in North West, Florida. Can hear the school buses picking up kids so school has reopened; will be interesting how that pans out with latest surge! One million new cases yesterday here in U.S.!😱 Lot’s of things to do today that I have put off during the holidays! Visiting Omaha Beach and Area with Overlord tours was one my favorite but most solemn excursion’s ever. Continued prayers and concerns for all in need. Thanks Rich, Roy and contributors. Heartgrove Posted January 5, 2022 #16 Share Posted January 5, 2022 (edited) Good Morning everyone! Thank you Rich for the Daily Report, and thank you Roy for the Cares and Celebrations Report. And thank you everyone for caring and sharing! A bit warmer this morning at 23 F degrees. Unbelievable all of the stories of people from being caught in the traffic along I-95. Being from the Midwest, when I was working for AT&T with a company car I would always carry an emergency kit with me. My territory was 10 Midwest states which meant a lot of snowy day travel. We were able to move our January cruise to April yesterday. It wasn't without a domino effect though. Our dog sitter is so popular that we used our days already allocated for a short Carnival Cruise from Charleston to celebrate DSIL's birthday. We will reschedule that to June when the dog sitter has available days. Ironic that our cruising choices rotate around her availability! Hopefully Sam appreciates this too. Yesterday morning was so beautiful after the snow plus being so cold. I took a quick walk in the neighborhood to capture a few photos shared here. sassy~one Posted January 5, 2022 #19 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Thank you for the Daily Report. I really enjoy it. Good morning everyone, please stay safe. I'm still feeling a bit anxious about sailing Sunday. It's not the ship that concerns me or the folks on the ship. I guess it's the air plane, pre cruise hotel and I am now sailing solo. marshhawk Posted January 5, 2022 #21 Share Posted January 5, 2022 We went to the Wild Birds Unlimited store yesterday, renewed our membership, and got some decent bird seed. Squirrels will get the corn mix. When Covid started DH and I started watching a lot of Britbox. One of the shows was Springwatch, which really brought the birds into our lives. We put out feeders, and humming bird feeders, and learned that squirrels don't like hot spicy food, but the birds don't have a problem with it, so we bought food with hot pepper and the birds were no longer robbed of food. What we failed to remember is our female feral cat, and while she gets 3 !! meals a day, she is still a hunter. She is getting older, and not hunting as much, so the feeders are hidden now in holly trees,(where she wont go-too prickly) but we don't have as many birds as we did two years ago. All the right intentions, but wrong approach. I mentioned to the staff at the store, that we were not seeing as many birds this year, and both the owner and staff said no one was seeing as many birds this year. And at this time, no one knows why. @kazu I saw an article about a mysterious disease that was occurring in young people in New Brunswick, and that when a nurse leaked that information, she was fired. Apparently the disease causes hallucinations, severe weight loss and days of confusion. and on that note- 27
smitty34877 Posted January 5, 2022 #22 Share Posted January 5, 2022 Good morning. We have had freezing rain, sleet and ice overnight and it was treacherous getting the dogs outside earlier. I unfortunately watched a car slide down the hill into the parked cars on our street. It was unable to back up the hill to disengage from the car. My neighbors were out using ice melt on the street and one took both dogs from me so that I would not have to go on the stairs or sidewalk. That was a lovely thing to do but I worried that he would fall. We are all safely inside now. Late yesterday Tana was taken to the hospital by ambulance. DD just heard from her and she has been admitted to a room after being in the ER hallway all night. Her doctors feel IV antibiotics are needed and perhaps the high flo oxygen. If she had to go,it certainly was better that she went last night when our fourteen steps to the street were fine. The City EMT’s have a special stair stretcher they use. Please be careful out there!
