Keene33 Posted January 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2022 While most of you have read the news that the CDC Director has no plans to extend this, story below, what will this mean for NCL cruises? https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/cruises/2022/01/12/cruises-covid-protocols-cdc/9120931002/
Cruise Gopher Posted January 13, 2022 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2022 No changes most likely. They don’t want to end up in a PR nightmare again. Also, even though this is expiring on paper, I guarantee you that the CDC is having tough conversations behind closed doors basically to the effect of “don’t screw this up or else…”
Rare ontheweb Posted January 13, 2022 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2022 I am sure their lawyers are telling them to not make any drastic changes that could increase their liability if there is any sort of outbreak.
WillandTam Posted January 13, 2022 #4 Share Posted January 13, 2022 I for one would love to see the masking policy go back to what it was. We went on the Gem in August and it was as much like a pre Covid cruise as it could be.
Rare aubreyc1988 Posted January 13, 2022 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2022 None of the bigger cruiselines will want to be the "greyed out cruiseline" on the CDC website. This whole "Voluntary" thing is just for CDC PR, they did this "opt in/greyed out if you opt out" thing to force cruiselines into complying, all the while making the CDC look like they weren't forcing the cruiselines to do all these super extraordinary measures for covid mitigation. luckyinpa Posted January 13, 2022 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2022 interesting is that things go voluntary at the time cruises are across the board canceled. if i was a sensational news guy, id say lack of CDC oversight is causing cruises to shut down. but i'm no media freak. CPT Trips Posted January 14, 2022 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2022 Maybe CDC got it right. https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices/covid-4/coronavirus-cruise-ship December 30, 2021 The COVID-19 Travel Health Notice level has been updated from Level 3 to Level 4, the highest level. This reflects increases in cases onboard cruise ships since identification of the Omicron variant.
