Move stateroom from category 8K (Extended balcony) to 8M (Aft extended balcony)?

Hi all,

 

We are booked on Carnival Miracle 10 nt sailing this May and currently have an 8K category booked (Extended balcony on Deck 7), and I called today to move the room to an 8M category (Aft extended balcony on Deck 4) and the agent said she "couldn't see the room" and that because it was a lesser category they couldn't do it. In fact the room is more expensive than what we currently have booked so I was very confused, and then after 40 minutes of she let me know someone else had booked the room and to call back to see if another comes available.

 

Needless to say I hung up very confused. Does anyone know if this is the case about switching balcony categories?

I don't see why you couldn't upgrade, unless the "8M" is no longer available.  I suggest you continue to look daily, but also request PVP asap.

My PVP has been able to do the very thing you are asking.

Yeek.  On this one, as much as I hate to be the one saying it...I'd probably call back.  The aft extended is absolutely awe inspiring.

The 8M is higher rated and should be more money than an 8K.  The 8K is extended balcony, the 8M is extended balcony aft, just like the 8N.  The only difference is that the 8N's are located on higher decks so they charge more for them.

You unfortunately got stuck with a CSR who did not know what they were doing and misrepresented the situation.  I would call back and see if any 8M's or even 8N's might be available.
