INTERESTING. Hmmmm I wonder if this could be the replacement for the Spirit in Australia. What is the last date you can see ANY Pride sailings currently for sale, anywhere? I just don't see Carnival repositioning either of the absolutely necessary Spirit Class boats (low bridges in Tampa/Balt.) from the Atlantic all the way down under. I could envision Miracle heading over to Australia post an Alaska season though.

Any after the Alaska season?
tidecat Posted March 12, 2022 #154 Share Posted March 12, 2022 Except any ship heading to Australia has to have Australian power plugs installed in all of the staterooms at a minimum. If Australia drags the shutdown into 2023, this presumably would make Miracle an option (last drydock was in 2020, before the shutdown). That said, I don't see the economic justification of converting another Spirit-class vessel, as that doesn't allow the Australian market to grow. Any after the Alaska season? Everything is available for sale though April 2024. Her last drydock was in February/March 2020, before the shutdown, but so far all of those dates in 2023 have sailings available for booking. She may be able to hold off until 2024 given her age, although ship maintenance schedules usually change at 15 years, which in Miracle's case is 2019. Miracle does a bunch of Hawaii cruises outside of the Alaska season, and I suspect Carnival wouldn't want to cancel those - there would be a window in early October 2022, but right now those 3 Baja Mexico sailings are open for booking. CarnivalShips480 Posted March 13, 2022 #157 Share Posted March 13, 2022 Before when they announced Spirit would come to the US they removed all of the Brisbane cruises, so when this TBA ship comes it will do different cruises then Spirit had, so maybe they did that so they could have a seasonal ship there instead of year round? Beezo Posted March 21, 2022 #158 Share Posted March 21, 2022 So somewhat back on topic - Has anyone heard any updates regarding Costa Magica to Carnival? So quiet! I figured with Carnival Jubilee's steel cutting beginning last week, (not wanting to cloud over that PR) we should hear something about this transfer very shortly.... RD64 Posted March 21, 2022 #160 Share Posted March 21, 2022 I have seen reports in Italian newspapers (of course nothing verified) that the Magica has been made available to house Ukrainian refugees in Italy. https://www.ansa.it/english/news/2022/03/18/ukraine-costa-has-offered-cruise-ship-for-refugees-toti_75cd5f10-3ced-491a-a1f5-cc5700dea344.html
cruisin from vegas Posted March 21, 2022 #161 Share Posted March 21, 2022 I just read she was offered today to the Italian Government to be used to house Ukrainian refugees. Carnival would cover expenses for awhile. They declined though. They said expenses would be eventually too high.

CarnivalShips480 Posted April 16, 2022 #164 Share Posted April 16, 2022 (edited) How did you find out? But finally. They have been pushing off this announcement for 10 months. Edited April 16, 2022 by CarnivalShips480
CruiseAdict218 Posted April 16, 2022 #165 Share Posted April 16, 2022 Been watching her a while, but I noticed the ship finally went into a dry dock and today on other social media pictures were posted of the ship in dry dock with a set of lifeboats already lowered. Few mentioned of a pending announcement.
SummmerInKefalonia Posted April 16, 2022 #166 Share Posted April 16, 2022 In italian forums they are saying that the ship after drydock will go up to Amsterdam to host ukrainian refugees just like HAL's Volendam.

jsglow Posted April 16, 2022 #170 Share Posted April 16, 2022 I can't imagine CCL Corp would spend money now on an asset meant to serve as a refugee camp. That makes ZERO sense.
