LB_NJ Posted February 1, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2022 I thought they could be fun on sea days and was wondering if they returned?

neverbeenhere Posted February 1, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2022 They are auctioning off fine art regularly. Enjoy the show, buy a lot of pieces.
matj2000 Posted February 1, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2022 Make sure you buy a couple "Peter Max" lithographs. Those things will become valuable. A real investment.
lenquixote66 Posted February 1, 2022 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2022 One day I hope to buy an original Picasso on a cruise.
Amberle3 Posted February 1, 2022 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2022 I actually found the art auction helpful, and not just for the free champagne! I saw some items that I really liked, but was not prepared to spend cruise ship prices. I then looked online, found similar ones by another artist that I actually liked more and was much more reasonable, and I now have one of those hanging in my livingroom! 1

I think the auctions are fun. Yes, they do sell some of the items at ridiculous prices. However, I look at some of the items as fine art "reprints," not any resale value. The prints I have gotten were very well made on quality paper (much better than posters). All much less than a $100 each. Much more fun than the casino where the house has the odds. GEORGIEGIRL Posted February 1, 2022 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2022 They were doing "Art" auctions on the "Allure" last week. I didn't attend (not my thing). However, I did hear someone complaining that there wasn't any Champagne being offered. Not sure if that's true or not, but what I heard.

Park West was holding art auctions on my cruises on Freedom in Sept and Allure in Nov 2021, and on neither were they "allowed" to offer free champagne. It was unclear where the rule came from, so not sure if it's happening on other cruise lines.

ampurp85 Posted February 1, 2022 #12 Share Posted February 1, 2022 I went to one on my Jan 24th Mariner. There was free champagne but only after you had been there for an hour. I liked one piece and they wanted $975 on sale......they have lost their minds.

It would have been sparkling wine and not champagne.
