b8nkr Posted February 26, 2022 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2022 Would like to hear others opinions of booking an Alaskan cruise on splendor or spirit. I’m having a hard time picking.

Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted February 26, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2022 I would chose the 8 day cruise option to visit Icy Strait Point.
RollingMeadows Posted February 26, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2022 Spirit for the ship. I prefer the smaller ship.
Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted February 26, 2022 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2022 Two votes for the Spirit so far!

CrzRani Posted February 26, 2022 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2022 We booked the 8-day leaving June 29 on Spirit. I look forward to exploring this ship we have never been on.
famof4togo Posted February 26, 2022 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2022 If only actual ship is the factor I too vote Spirit. I did not appreciate the cut up style of the Splender.
Jamran77 Posted February 27, 2022 #9 Share Posted February 27, 2022 We went from Freedom to Splendor to Spirt! So a vote for Spirt from me. I could not handle the loss of Skagway.
SNJCruisers Posted February 27, 2022 #10 Share Posted February 27, 2022 The best lines for Alaska are Princess and Holland America. Glacier Bay is THE port to visit and the majority of visits there are on those two lines.
JT1962 Posted February 27, 2022 #11 Share Posted February 27, 2022 Alaska is much more about the scenery and ports than the ship or even cruise line. Research the ports to find excursions that interest you, then pick a ship that spends the most time in those ports. I booked Splendor on May 2 because of the itinerary and long days in Skagway and Juneau. I also sailed on Splendor previously and enjoyed it. I'll be there as well on May 2nd (same cruise) if this broken ankle that I got four days ago in bonaire on the horizon heals up. Don't do the windsurfing in 3 feet of water. Not worth it! Hunter69 Posted February 28, 2022 #14 Share Posted February 28, 2022 #Spiritclass. Spirit has a way better layout, larger passenger to space ratio, not crowded.. Great viewing spots.. Spirit Vote.👍👍
skiorcruise Posted March 3, 2022 #15 Share Posted March 3, 2022 Spirit Class ship over Splendor every time. An Alaska trip needs to look at ports and excursions. Spirit class ships are the least crowded ships in the Carnvial fleet. Thats why I prefer them over any others.
jamie717 Posted March 4, 2022 #16 Share Posted March 4, 2022 Off topic, sorry, but I have searched and searched and can't find an answer. We are booked on Spirit in July (happy to see the positive votes) and I am wondering if a 10:30 am return flight is doable? Thank you for any info. skiorcruise Posted March 4, 2022 #18 Share Posted March 4, 2022 Splendor has a few decks where you cannot go forward to aft. Dinning rooms and galleys get in the way. Spirit class allows you to go forward to aft on all decks.

I like the newer ships / RCL ships that's layout is where there is one central promenade and "most" restaurants, theaters, shops etc are all off that promenade...kind of like a mall feel. The Splendor is not like that, you can need to go up or down a deck to get to most places, it has a cut up feel to me, similar to two different 2000 sqft homes where one has an open layout vs. one having all 9x9 rooms, thought the same size a very different feel. Ohhhhh. The Radiance was like that lower decks. Wasn’t a fan of that.
