LARGIN Posted March 8, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2022 A few years back I remember full suite passengers being escorted to their rooms on embarkation. Wondering if they are still doing it?

Rare cr8tiv1 Posted March 8, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2022 Yes in October on the Grand. But....only for the first run at 11 AM for those waiting in the lounge. I heard that others didn't get it. Either they just walked on board with later embarkation time or not enough staff. My very first time (not first time as suite) and was delighted not to have to drag my carry on up the ramp. DiRonT Posted March 8, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 8, 2022 No on tge Majestic in November and we were waiting g in the elite loungepriorto the start of boarding. However, didn't happen for us on the Crown or Sapphire pre-Covid. We will see if we get lucky on the Discovery on April 10 or the Sapphire on 9/24. I don't display my Medallion color/status. Just a nice gesture since Princess is taking away so many other perks. Doesn't cost them a dime (My escort was from the dining room). Many have reported that MDR is closed on embarkation day. I hope not. Another nice perk. Recognition by Princess (I don't give a hoot about what others interpret). ** Need to add: Old person trying to drag carry on, CPAP, and a sundry of other portables up a ramp. Nice to be assisted If you are in the Elite/Suite lounge, every one already knows your status. Edited March 8, 2022 by cr8tiv1

Rare AnyMajorCruiseDude Posted March 8, 2022 #17 Share Posted March 8, 2022 Have been on 6 cruises since restart, all on the Grand. Escorting offered every time. Accepted twice and declined the rest.
PhotoGal07 Posted March 8, 2022 #18 Share Posted March 8, 2022 (edited) It's always nice to have an escort when we can get it, especially when the children were super little. The stroller, the diaper bag, the carry-ons, and managing little ones anxious for a snack or lunch was a giant pain. Now that they are older it's less cumbersome, but it's still nice to have someone help with the schlep. I'm not sure how they do it on Princess (first time with them!) but when we've sailed other lines it's always been one of the suite concierge, butlers, or stateroom attendants that have done the escort. It's a nice opportunity to meet and get to know them. Edited March 8, 2022 by PhotoGal07
Sn0cruiser Posted March 9, 2022 #19 Share Posted March 9, 2022 Not on the Nov 20 Sky cruise from Fort Lauderdale. There was also no platinum lounge and I had to mention we were in a suite to one of the people to, grudgingly, get access to what passed for an elite lounge. The Sky was supposedly at a different birth than normal so I assume that was why. Our previous cruise on the Enchanted had both lounges.
donaldsc Posted March 9, 2022 #20 Share Posted March 9, 2022 What is the point of being escorted? Is that an "I am better than you" showoff or is it that suite passengers just can't find their way to their suite? DON

DON My wife has mobility issues, and were were escorted on our last cruise in December on the Grand. I tried to tell our escort he was on the wrong side of the ship, but he must not have heard me. We got to the rear of the Baja deck when he figured out that the hallway there doesn't go all the way across the ship. We had to backtrack to the elevators, cross over the other side of the ship, and then get to our cabin. Yes, I could have been a bit more forceful, but I wanted to see what would happen. TL/DR - we know how to get there, aren't showoffs, but sometimes the escort doesn't know the way. 😄

But why should the rest of the suite passengers need to be escorted? DON
