We have choice of aft facing cabin but which deck is more convenient/desirable?  9 thru 14?

Lower decks have larger balconies.  We were up high once and it was too noisy due to being right under the Spice H2O, we were able to move to a lower deck (I think 10 or 11) and it was great - larger balcony and quite!  We prefer lower decks due to easier access to the Waterfront on deck 8 but if you are into the options on the upper level decks, higher may work for you.

The size order for depth is 9, 12, 15, 14, 11, 10, 13 from deepest to least deep.

There are also differences in balcony width as well as differences in bed location (near balcony vs. near closet) for the stateroom.

For a good combination of view, balcony depth, and avoiding noise from Spice H2O, I recommend deck 12. From there, decide on bed location. My preference is bed near balcony but some prefer the opposite. My first choices on deck 12 are 12308/12908.

This list is incredible!!!!!!!!!  Any chance you have the same for the NCL Joy Aft Balconies?

Physically, the configurations are the same. The stateroom numbers are slightly different. I have a list for Joy. I can post it later.

Actually, I figured out how to map them (the Joy #s to these cabin #s), so no need!

And I think we are going to stick with what we have.  The price dropped on our Joy cruise from Quebec to NYC in October 2023 and for what we were going to pay I could switch to an aft balcony, which I always wanted to do, but when I looked up the temps in Canada in October (and the rain days), I realized maybe this isn't the cruise to splurge on an aft balcony (and maybe I will get the price drop with NCL).  I have an angled balcony 9350 booked. I am questioning myself because there are several angled balconies available and also all of the rooms around my cabin seem to be open, so I am wondering what I am missing and maybe there is an issue with this cabin (specifically this one and/or this cabin type) that I am not thinking of...It is above Cagney's, so I don't think it will be too loud early or late, and given the weather in that location, I would rather be lower near restaurants and lounges than higher near the pool. Maybe I'm just psyching myself out.

Much appreciated for offering to post later, but I don't think we need any longer 🙂

When you say narrowest for 9324, how much narrower is it? Substantial enough to move to another room? The rest on deck 9 are still open for our sailing. Thanks in advance.

The full size of the photo (5184x3456) makes it easier to see that balcony and 9322 next to it. You can see the difference a bit more clearly (click here then download original image).

If you want the same bed location on deck 9, your only other option is 9922.

We have cruised in the 'narrower' B1 on deck 9.

It has plenty of room for two loungers, two chairs and a table.   My first choice would be bed near balcony, but I wouldn't hesitate to book it 9324 again.    Enjoy😎

I just booked Encore - aft 9922 …. Was this the best choice for the aft cabins or is this one of the narrow ones due to it being next to a HA room?

There are two cabins on deck 12 still available 12312 or 12908.

Should I stick with 9922 or switch to deck 12?

The stateroom (9324) directly port side of the wheelchair accessible stateroom (9924) is the one with the narrowest aft-facing balcony on deck 9. Your 9922 has a wider balcony than 9324. Yours is bed near closet.

12312 - bed near closet/narrowest aft-facing balcony on deck 12.

12908 - bed near balcony.

It depends on your bed location preference. Personally, I prefer bed near balcony. I also prefer deck 12 over the slightly deeper deck 9 because of the better view. 12308/12908 would be my first choice for a B1 on Encore. I'd then take 12310.

The similar staterooms on deck 9 (9320/9920) would be my next picks.

Two Wheels is the expert on these.  Followed this advice for our Aft balconies and loved them.  And yes, my first choice would be Deck 12, then Deck 9.  Have loved both, but Deck 12 has great views.

(Deck 9 is nice if you want to just walk down a deck or two to bars, etc.)

Another question! Or two , or three 😉

Which balcony deck is more covered? 9 or 12? (We prefer a more covered deck)

When you say it’s a slightly deeper deck on 9 vs 12… how slight? Does each deck contain the same outdoor furniture?

They both have about the same amount that is "exposed" with 9 having a bit more that is covered. They are both more covered than exposed because the balcony above provides the coverage....

Encore.jpg

...the shape of the ship from the outside isn't staggered to exactly match the staterooms. Some staterooms are directly above another and some are recessed.

^^ Deck 9

^^ Deck 12

There is a list from NCL that gives square footage but their list isn't 100% correct for depth and the differences in width aren't taken into account.

Not exactly. The previous guest might ask for more or less furniture. 2 loungers, 2 chairs, and a small table will fit on decks 9 and 12 as well as a few other decks.

If you're on deck 13....

...no. 😟

I'm probably the only one who doesn't know the difference between Configuration A vs. Configuration B.

🤔

Configuration A vs Configuration B applies to the Haven Suites. If the bedroom is near the balcony, it is A. If the master bathroom is near the balcony, it is B.

Whichever is near the balcony is the larger of the 2.

We only book aft facing balconies, bed near balcony,

I booked 12310 a while ago on escape, can you tell me why you prefer 12308/12908 over 12310.

Because of the shape of the Haven balcony next door, you can get a slightly better view "around the corner" in 12308 vs. 12310. It's a tiny difference and most people wouldn't even notice unless the ship was docked. If you're sailing, whatever you aren't seeing in 12310 will eventually be seen as you sail by... 🙂

Both are fine choices for a B1.

Thank you so much, even though I booked awhile ago I think 12310 was the only one available on 12 with bed near balcony.

THANK YOU for this helpful info!!!

@Two Wheels Only, a follow-up question for you, please: I am hoping for an aft-facing balcony that will accommodate a lounge chair.
The aft-facing rooms on deck 12 (your first recommendation) are not available for the cruise on the Escape that I'm considering.

Room 9920 is available for the cruise I am looking at, and the deck size  looks perfect, but the video above makes it look like the flag pole cuts into the view (making me think a higher level view would be better)

[The 13th floor is definitely not deep enough]

Room 14302 and 14902 are available, as are rooms on deck 11.

Would you recommend room 9920 above or room 14302 or 14902 or other?

Thank you in advance from a new cruiser!
