SusanCrusin' Posted March 31, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2022 We are sailing on Independence of the Seas 5/20 with one unvaxed child. We would like to book a snorkeling trip (not through the cruise) in Nassau. I thought I had read that unvaxed children could only participate in cruise excursions. Is this the case? smokeybandit Posted March 31, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2022 As of about 2 weeks ago, unvaxxed can do whatever they want in port except for a few certain ports (I don't believe Nassau was one)
beachluver9 Posted April 3, 2022 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2022 We took our 7 yr old vaccinated granddaughter to Margaritaville where we pre-purchased day passes. Their website stated vaccinated guests only or a recent negative test (I forget how long, but I think 72 hrs) , but we were not asked to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result when we checked in. The resort has a great water park for kids under 9-ish. They had many water slides, but the highest ones were not really intense. Our 7 yr old loved all of the water slides and the lazy river. The beach had some snorkeling near the rocks, but you needed to bring your own mask/snorkel or rent theirs.
SusanCrusin' Posted April 4, 2022 Author #4 Share Posted April 4, 2022 Thanks for your responses. This is so confusing. It seems every time/place I ask this question, I get a different response. RC customer service says unvax can only do RC excursion. I also have an email into their customer service, but have not heard back. I contacted Bahamas.com and they told me I need to contact RC. RC FAQ says this - Guests can visit most ports of call freely, regardless of vaccination status. A handful of ports currently require guests to book a shore excursion to go ashore. See below to understand which ports require this. Healthy Shore Excursions Know that Royal Caribbean has worked with local tour operators to ensure they follow our Healthy Sail Panel health guidance for all Shore Excursions in all ports of call. These tours are available at a variety of price points and may be purchased in advance on Cruise Planner or once onboard using the Royal Caribbean App. No mention of the bahamas having restrictions. NateUpNorth Posted April 4, 2022 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2022 I believe this is what you're looking for: If I interpret it correctly - only those two Islands (current, subject to change etc etc etc etc) have other requirements.
SusanCrusin' Posted April 4, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted April 4, 2022 Nate that's what I read and thought, but when I called today, they said we could only book RC tours and not independent tours.

That's because the CSR you talked has not bothered to look at a newer script.
