untailored bostonian Posted February 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2006 We have booked our flight, hotel for the day before the cruise, but I'd like advise on how to get to the ship the day of the cruise. It looks as if taking the train to Harwich is an easy option. Any suggestions?
negc Posted February 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2006 Last year we took the bus that RCI provided. It was convenient and less expensive than hiring a car and driver. In 2002 we were traveling with another couple and we shared the cost of a car and driver since it was less expensive than the RCI transfers. The train station is right across from where the ship is docked so that is also a good option. Haven't done it and some have noted that it may sometimes involve a change of trains enroute. London is a great city to visit and we have loved both of our westbound transatlantics. Wish we could travel with you as we have never been to Newfoundland. If Ken and Pene are on your cruise, say hi to them from Bill and Rita. They did a great job putting together a private tour of Cobh that was much better and less expensive than what the cruiseline offered.
untailored bostonian Posted February 26, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted February 26, 2006 Our hotel is at St. Paul’s and the tube is right there. The Harwich train leaves from Liverpool Street station, and I have the PDF schedule. It looks like the trains run about once an hour. If you pick the right train, it is a direct connection. So one would think it would be easy. I assume that we can arrange for RCCL to pick us up at our hotel, or at a location of their choice.
pandvsmith Posted February 26, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2006 We are also booked for this cruise. There is a very active roll call thread for this cruise and nearly 70 people signed up for the Meet & Mingle. There are a lot of good tips on this thread. Ken & Pene are also sailing on this cruise and have information on their website regarding this cruise. Welcome aboard and come join our roll call thread!
