MileHighAko Posted May 11, 2022 #29 Share Posted May 11, 2022 I'm curious about the Princess Prizes. Is it only available to premiere customers? Can you purchase it separately?
skynight Posted May 11, 2022 #30 Share Posted May 11, 2022 It kind of indicates that Princess will be raising drink prices for many of its alcoholic beverages above the current $12 where most of them are now.

Alcoholic drinks requested above the daily limits are at the discretion of the shipboard management and crew and charged at regular menu prices. Non-alcoholic drinks do NOT have this limitation nor do they count toward this maximum. Interesting. Yeah I see that now. What a confusing thing this will be to people if you read all the terms! The first confusing piece is that it's only through the end of this year...so not necessarily ongoing for the Premier package? Some Marketing genius thought this one up in a bar and wrote it up on the bar napkin I think..... 😳

The way I see it: 2 lattes, unlimited drip coffee or tea, 3 sodas or waters, still leaves 5 booze. Your response seems to be a reasonable one, but I don't know of anybody who maxes out the 15 alcoholic drinks per day. I would venture a guess that most never even get to 10 drinks a day. The 15 drink limit on Princess only applies to alcoholic beverages, not any of the included non-alcoholic beverages. Holland America's standard beverage package now includes all non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages in their 15 drink limit. I see people complaining that by the time they get a few bottles of water one or two specialty coffees and a few afternoon mocktails, that doesn't cover many of the more expensive drinks later that same day after some dinner drinks and in the casino. Reducing the limit of drinks to 15 in total would not have much effect on the bottom line and could hurt the bottom line of sales of Princess Plus in the first place. I'm glad to see you're giving thought to this though, at least you made a positive suggestion.

Then a few will pay $$$ Especially since Carnival Cruises just announced it's increase. That was $1 per day across the board. I've never seen many 'drunken fools' on Princess.... Just to clarify....the 15 drinks per day ( or 10 in your example) is ONLY counted for alcoholic drinks. You can have 50 lattes and sodas, if you are so inclined..... Including non-alcoholic beverages in that 15 limit is not going to work for me and would not make sense from a $ perspective at all. I think what burns me up a bit is that all the times me and my husband have purchased the PP and he doesn't even drink alcohol. But, you can't just choose it for one person. Princess has always come out ahead with us. I never max out the alcohol limit of 15. It's just not possible for me. 1

Tedferg Posted May 11, 2022 #47 Share Posted May 11, 2022 (edited) Being cynical, we are booked with Plus for Sep 2022 cruise so grandfathered a $40 pp pd. Nothing stops Princess from increasing drink prices and thereby diminishing the value of Plus. ETA hopefully we would still just pay the difference for dinks over $12. I think they just pushed Plus over the grunt level for us. As for Premiere, no interest in top shelf drinks - and even then, paying the extra over $12 is simple. So, $25 per day is almost Specialty Dining every night, unless they boost price for that too, Edited May 11, 2022 by Tedferg
Sea Hag Posted May 11, 2022 #48 Share Posted May 11, 2022 This is all very interesting, but it's never going to affect us. We don't drink alcohol, and we have way more photos of ourselves on ships than we ever wanted or needed. We get two coffee packages by trading in the Elite mini bar (and I'll be royally ticked if they take that away). Adding up what we'd actually use, the grats, half-priced internet and one specialty restaurant (I think we wouldn't really want two), the premier pricing doesn't make financial sense for us. I'll stick to booking the saver price. 3

I have been border-line, almost-but-not-quite, lately think of the PLUS and not doing it. At $50, I can save a lot of brain drain and know there is no way it is of value to us. And the 50% higher premier. LOL. No interest in the photo package which must be a large part of the up-charge. Nope, I will just stick with our lowly SAVER fare and hope they don't abolish that.
