We are doing a B2B August & September and are curious at how the under staffing and supply chain issues have impacted those areas. We sailed in a sky suite on the May 16th Quantum sailing. We ate all but one meal in Coastal Kitchen. Service was very good and we had no issues getting a table for the times we wanted for the entire week. Food was inconsistent but mostly good. They were definitely substituting items and many times things were very different from the menus. Fish was not great and we sent back two meals because it was slimy. The seared rib eye on the menu was really a prime rib. We were told that it would be a prime rib, the people beside us were not told and weren't happy. Potatoes were under cooked on most entrees. Filet mignon the first night was perfect, as were the sides. Mozzarella sticks for one lunch were actually sharp cheddar sticks. Caprese salad was not buffalo mozzarella as described, it was the leftover burrata from the day before entrée. Caprese also came out covered in avocado, with arugula instead of basil. Breakfasts were good. Suite concierge is KK who is excellent. Only full suite passengers and pinnacles allowed in suite lounge at this point. No issues getting a seat and waiters were mostly good. KK kept an eye on everything and went looking for servers if they weren't around. Apps were typical of what we have had in the past. We only went to the diamond lounge once and server was very efficient. Apps looked like what is usually available. We had no interaction with the diamond concierge. Pro Tip: Northstar can not operate in windy conditions. Many of the rides while underway were cancelled due to wind conditions. Pro Tip: Book as soon as you embark. The ride sells out quickly on embarkation day. Thanks for the great info -we are cruising July 4. Is this something you can only book once on the ship or can you book earlier on embarkation day before getting to the ship? Do you have to book in person or on the app? Thanks 🙂

One of the main reason we sail in Suites on Oasis and Quantum class ships is for the food and service in Coastal Kitchen. I hope it gets worked out over the summer before we sail or we may just stick with Celebrity going forward.

Rare BirdTravels Posted June 5, 2022 Author #160 Share Posted June 5, 2022 Day 7 a Victoria Note: Masks are required whilst in the cruise terminal (you’re not in the USA any more) Note: Canada restricts the sale of adult beverages, so most bars will be closed while approaching, docking, and leaving Victoria.

Rare BirdTravels Posted June 5, 2022 Author #162 Share Posted June 5, 2022 (edited) Two70 is a unique entertainment space at the back of the ship. During the day, it provides spectacular 270 degree views of Alaska through two story floor to ceiling windows. At night, it becomes an ultra lounge or theater with robotic screens that become members of the cast. Edited June 5, 2022 by BirdTravels

We have a Whale Watching tour scheduled here and the pick-up point is in front of the Mt. Roberts Tramway. I've been told the walk isn't far, maybe 10 minutes for a non senior (dad's 93). Thanks! To kind of put things in perspective, the Quantum’s gangway is behind the point where this photo was taken. The base of the Tram (which you can see defending) and tour pick up area is down close to the green building at the far right edge of the photo. I have a group going soon and trying to give them a heads up on what to select in order to meet for the ground transportation option scheduled when we get back to Seattle. Thanks! Posted. I am not sure that there is a choice. On prior post-pandemic cruises, there has been a way to register for a time. I may have missed it, but I did not see that option on this cruise. We are using the Royal transfers. It is cheaper than an UberXL.

Rare BirdTravels Posted June 5, 2022 Author #170 Share Posted June 5, 2022 Power? Both US and European power is available. There is a shaver outlet (for shavers only) in the bathroom. Make sure to check your device and plug it in to the correct side of the outlet. Also, the outlet does not support polarized plugs (a plug with one blade wider than another). If you have a toothbrush charger or water pic with a polarized plug, you will need an adapter (commonly identified as a Japan adaptor).
Rare BirdTravels Posted June 5, 2022 Author #171 Share Posted June 5, 2022 The hairdryers in cabins produce hot air. That’s about all The Bird can say about them. Not high quality, but better than taking up suitcase space hauling the one from home.
scooterchamp Posted June 5, 2022 #172 Share Posted June 5, 2022 Hey, thanks for the posts. I am sailing on Quantum of the Seas later this month with my wife for the first time. We are currently booked an interior room but are looking to use the Royal Up bid process to try and get at least a window and possibly a balcony. Do you know how obstructed the obstructed view balconies are on the ship? Is it even worth it to try for one of them or is the view still pretty good? We don't want to spend a ton of extra money to just look at a lifeboat, but if it sits lower and there is still a good view we might. Thanks! You walk right through that small customs building. No stopping to talk to any officials. 1
