mickeysgal Posted June 3, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2022 We are considering a private shore excursion. I’m trying to figure out whether the excursion time is do-able. When is the all aboard time when sailing from a port? One hour or one half hour from sailing?
wrk2cruise Posted June 3, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2022 1/2 hr from published sail time. Crew is 1 hr.
Saturngrl Posted June 3, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2022 Make sure you keep your watch on ship's time, not local time. Do not rely on the clock on your cell phone as it adapts to local time and you may miss the window for all aboard time. My personal rule of thumb is to ensure our shore excursions will have us back to the port no later than two hours before all aboard time. This process helps us avoid long lines on a hot pier waiting to board as well as time to clean up and be on deck to watch pier runners.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted June 3, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2022 I would like to add on a slightly different scenario if it's ok. Does anyone know the All Aboard Time for B2B Passengers on turn around day. We have a B2B in Greenland and have a 4PM departure so was wondering latest I could get back as we want to do a short 3 hour excursion that starts at 11:30. The port is about a 30 minute walk to town but a short taxi.
wrk2cruise Posted June 3, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2022 Isn't Greenland a tender port as well?

Brain freeze as I was working on a Greenland tour also. We will visit all the ports 2x with the exception of Reykjavik. Not much available for short tours. Homosassa Posted June 3, 2022 #7 Share Posted June 3, 2022 OP, If you have a tender port, the last tender time from shore is important to know. It may be earlier than all aboard time at a docked port.
Denny01 Posted June 3, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2022 Most private (professional) tours are well aware of departure and get-back-on-board times. I’ve had tours cut a bit short due to traffic being an issue and so on. Yup, don’t blindly rely on them and be sure to Know the onboard time for each port as you step off. It can and Will change. personally, I’ve done a number of private tours…love them. But I Don’t do ones that have no real back up if it’s even close to departure such as going on a boat out to another area and so on. Just my decision. Many reputable tours have back ups in case a bus/van breaks down. Den
