Of interest to UK passengers only

Sailing from Southampton in September.  Will drive down day before cruise and so looking for options to stay over and then leave car for 10 days ?   Where do people recommend ?  Transfers ?

What about staying in Hotel - but still driving to Port in the morning in own car and using car parking ?

Any thoughts ?

For ease and convenience the Holiday Inn Southampton is a great choice. Right next to the dock, parking available on site…

If you have the luxury of a couple of days pre cruise look at some of the New Forest pubs and Country Houses which often offer parking and transport offers.

Just a word of warning, the Boat Show is in September too…check the dates don’t coincide with your cruise…if they do book sooner rather than later…

We've used Parking4Cruises with complete satisfaction.

They had a handover point, opposite the cruise terminal. They remove your vehicle to a secure compound while youre away, bringing it back on disembarcation day.

On our just cancelled cruise, we'd booked the night before at Careys Manor in Brockenhurst inn the New Forest, which would then have been about 45 minutes to the port. Previously, we've found a nice country hotel  between Winchester and Southampton - could be 30 - 45 minutes for the port, depending on exact location. Suits us to have somewhere that's a bit of luxury, with a ncie dinner, than a corporate hotel. Leisurely "full English" the next day and a short drive to the ship.  I assume you'll be driving a similar route - M6, M40 to Oxford, the A34.

We are also going on a cruise in September and also travelling from the NW. I would suggest you look for your hotel and parking fairly soon if your dates coincide with boat show week 16-25 September. Hotel prices are extortionate and parking spaces will be filling up. We went same week last year and Southampton was very busy. I will check boat show dates next time I book !!

We are staying in the village hotel in Eastleigh, only about 15 minutes away from the port but a lot more realistically priced !
We will drive to the ship in the morning and park with CPS which is right next to the port and is generally the most recommended car parking.

We live in the North East  so its a 7 hour drive to Southampton for us, so we always travel the day before sailing.

We use the Premier Inn in Eastleigh fir overnighting.  Easy to find, off the motorway, clean comfortable  room, decent bar/ restaurant for dinner and breakfast.   ( they use dynamic pricing, so keep checking).

We book parking with ABP (as has been mentioned  above). Right alongside the terminal  and retain your keys.

These arrangements may cost a tad more, but it works for us.

If its an ABP car park use it. Drive in, remove luggage, van arrives, takes luggage, you walk to the ship.

On return pick up luggage from hall walk to car and away.

For night before stay we just look at Premierinn site and choose the cheapest within no more than an hour drive from the port.

Second vote for the Holiday Inn. They offer a package of room and breakfast, parking and taxi both ways to the ship. One word of caution. This hotel is VERY popular with cruisers so request a lower floor room as the lifts are rammed in the morning with people and luggage.
