I have chronic motion sickness, but I have also had MdD in the past. What worked for me (on my Dr's recommendation), as to continue my daily Bonine tablets for at least 3 days post cruise. However, his doctor should be your go to source.
wcook Posted August 8, 2022 #27 Share Posted August 8, 2022 As with many things, my advice to you is to start drinking heavily! Side note: someone above mentioned Bonine (Meclizine). I swear by this drug. Note that it can be bought cheap off Amazon.

We took a 7 day cruise to Mexico in 2007 and my husband had mal de debarquement that was so bad, he couldn't drive. He did see an ENT specialist and it went away. Flash forward to 2022. We're doing a crossing on the Queen Mary 2 in October. We have a cabin in midships on a lower deck. But besides that, how can we proactively deal with this? Daily motion sickness pills? A wristband? The thing is, in 2007 he was just fine on the ship, it was after we got back to LA, that he got sick. Advice appreciated. In 2007 what did the ENT do that helped it go away? How long did it take to go away? MdDS does not respond to motion sickness pills, wristbands, etc because it is NOT caused from motion sickness. Something in the brain is not reading what the vestibular system (eyes, ears) is seeing. Some people with this have a doctor write a prescription for certain types of medicine that seem to help and they take it proactively but you have to have been diagnosed with MdDS before hand as these medicines can be addictive.
