some music  in martinis/ trivia/casino /string quartet

The 1 evening show at 9:30 pm

When I read the title of the thread my first thought was, "what nightlife?" 😀

The only other thing I'll add is on occasion there will also be some sort of live entertainment in Horizons at 10:30, but that is not the norm.

Yes some things going  on after the main main show but most people if port intensive cruise  are off to bed early as they are up & off the ship early for another day of touring

Some cruises I have had to have a forced "sea day" just to rest up LOL

YMMV

On transatlantic last year on Riviera, every night there was live music and dancing in horizons after the show. Timing coincides with two for one happy hour, so I rarely missed it. Lots of dancing to great live music. Different music genres on different nights. Very talented musicians, lots of fun. Horizons often had a good turn out, with a full bar and many tables with passengers. Four or five entertainment staff, including the associate social director were dancing nonstop (it seemed). This made it really easy for anyone who so desired to also dance. Couples danced and solos danced. Great fun!

other than that, I agree that the nightlife is very sedate.

From the 12/13-23/21 Riviera cruise in the W. Caribbean, rather laid back, limited and sedate.

Keep in mind what is "night life". Thus, our comic did two shows. The first, 12/16, was at 1730! The second, 12/20, was at 2130. Wife and I went to the 2nd. But I was curious about the 1st so I waited outside the doors at 1830 that evening. A mad rush to get to the restaurants that open at 1830.

Let’s set the stage by saying not all cruises are the the same in this regard.

1. On many cruises that are 12 days or less, one will often find a younger crowd than on those 14-15+ days. The longer cruises are most often nearly totally retirees and quite often older retirees. The differences between the “ night life” on those cruise categories can be huge!!!

2.  There are upscale Agencies that put together college Alumni group cruises that book with Oceania. Plus there is Food & Wine Trails that book group trips, with outings, on Oceania. These groups often bring more age diversity and livelihood to cruises than normally exist otherwise. Night life can be abundant on those cruises. Some Oceania cruisers specifically search out and hide from these cruises with more fear than of those that might have of smaller children. Livelihood is almost profanity to some.

3. Cruises that cater primarily to Americans, Brits, and Canadians are often lower key than those catering to Continental Europeans, Aussies, Kiwi, and/ or Far Eastern Asians typically have more energy and night life.

So, as you can see, the answer to the OP can be highly variable. I wish them Luck and joyful cruising. If you are considering a specific released cruise, your TA can probably give you a heads up on who is booking the cruise.

I am no spring chicken but I find the nightlife on Oceania sooh boring as there really isnt anything and what there is is ie Trivia ! is something out of 1950’ s , my husband and I tend to eat late , so as there is only one show we miss it, we have always been lucky to meet up with some great people and tend to join them before and after our meal and that is our evening . On European sailings there seem to be a few people in the bars and we enjoy socialising with people from all around the world . I have often suggested to the cruise director why not do something else but I think the directive comes from Head Office so I doubt it will ever change.

Considering booking on vista for Europe next year. We haven’t sailed on Oceania so was wondering what nightlife is like onboard especially if you don’t attend the nightly show.

after 10+ cruises  I am wondering that too!!   Came to  the realization that You are the entertainment  for the most part after dining and conversations with other fellow passengers.     Its sort of the norm for the demographic to be quiet in the evenings after dinner...  It is not a live wire party ship... subtle and svery low key  is more the action.

Hi Robin.....I have to laugh.....we had such a great time on that cruise....it depends on just a couple of guests and then many come out of there shell....Whenever lefts Horizons before 1am and had a blast everynight! We always have a great time in Horizons on the Riviera

and the Marina after 10pm....thats when all the old folks are put to bed!

That was we never left Horizons before 1am.....

The other really big factor are sea days....we had 11 on that cruise so there was plenty of drunkin/drinking nights...much more than if in port the next day.

I was on Regatta last month for 22 days and there was music in Horizons every night. It seemed the number of people depended on the theme of the night.

Pretty quiet night life. The shows are fairly lowkey, but they do get some excellent small acts. Usually after around 11:30 or so it really quiets down. Not like it was crazy anyway LOL! If you're ever traveling during the holidays, I always recommend wandering about the ship as the staff start the decorating process.

Yep, we are on a cruise next month with a group from Food & Wine Trails that we booked with a bunch of friends.  We are mostly 50's and 60's, but we will be up late in the casino and Martini's!

Just got off our first Oceania cruise on the Riviera - Rome to Barcelona.  It was more sedate than other cruises we have been on (mostly Celebrity), however we loved it.  We sometimes went to the show, and then hung out in Martini's and listened to LG on the piano.  We also followed the string quartet around at times.  We don't need a lot of high energy to keep us entertained.  I agree that these more port intensive itineraries led themselves to getting a good nights sleep!  We must have enjoyed it as we booked another cruise while ono board - on the Vista.

Here’s a rhetorical question. How would a passenger that goes to their cabin and/or bed almost every night by 9:00 pm know if the ship has any nightlife? Ask someone that does the same?? 🙄😂

As I posted earlier, some of the cruises have a very robust nightlife while others can be very sedate.

Same  scenario  for the evening show  ...people that never attend comment how bad the shows are 🙄

We have seen some good shows  & some not so good shows  but we do at least check them out
